This completely restored Comet Capri two-door hardtop coupe has been driven fewer than 1,000 miles since the restoration process in 2010 at JD's Auto Restoration Center in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. Features include a rebuilt 289ci V8 engine backed by a C6 3-speed automatic transmission and power brakes with front discs. This Comet with an aftermarket Jamaican Yellow paint job is available now and comes with service records, an original owner’s manual, restoration photos, and a clear Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
This third-generation Mercury Comet with the same intermediate platform as the midsized Ford Fairlane was originally red with a black roof. The body was refinished in Jamaican Yellow and the roof separation trim was removed. Features include a horizontal split grille, quad vertical headlights, chrome bumpers, and horizontal taillights with integrated reverse lights. The seller states that the entire car has been serviced and detailed and shows no cosmetic or mechanical issues.
The original steel wheels wear full hubcaps and are wrapped in whitewall radial tires.
Originally black, the front and rear seats were reupholstered in tan and white vinyl that extends into the interior trim and door panels. Tan carpeting with tan rubber floor mats covers the cabin floor. Features include an AM radio, seat belts, manual windows and locks, a column-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission, and a padded dashboard. All of the trunk interior surfaces have been refinished in Jamaican Yellow and a correct floor mat has been installed. A spare tire with the correct jack and hardware can be seen mounted to the floor.
A 120-mph speedometer with a 5-place odometer showing 34,785 miles and gauges for the amperage, fuel level, and coolant temperature display vehicle information. True mileage is unknown.
Rebuilt and restored in 2010, the 289ci V8 engine is backed by a C6 3-speed automatic transmission and has fewer than 1,000 miles on it.
The factory undercoating was retained in certain areas on the unibody structure. Other surfaces and suspension components have been refinished in matte black. Hardware includes an independent front suspension with disc brakes and a leaf spring-mounted rear drive axle. The single exhaust runs the full length of the car in the factory location.
Service records, an original owner’s manual, and restoration photos will be included with the sale.

@Onemoretime – Were the orginal Black seat covers removed before the new ones replaced? Were did you purchase the interior kit? ...
Yes. The black covers were removed. The seats were re-upholstered as you see them now. I do not know where the covers were obtained. I could ask the restorer, but I am unsure as to when the answer will be available.
