Vehicle Story

This 1969 Chevrolet Caprice coupe has been revived after sitting for 20 years with a rebuilt carburetor and several new parts, including the fuel pump, gas tank, sending unit, brakes, and tires. Power comes from the reportedly numbers-matching combination of a 427ci V8 and Turbo-Hydramatic transmission. Features include a center console, power brakes, air conditioning, and power steering. This Butternut Yellow Caprice with a black vinyl interior comes with a clear California title in the seller’s name.

This pillarless hardtop coupe features chrome body side moldings, quad headlights, chrome driver- and passenger-side mirrors, wheel arch moldings, rocker trim, and chrome bumpers. The seller reports the car has very little rust and small paint chips around the exterior.

The steel wheels with full hub caps are wrapped in newer Hankook radial tires.

The black interior is furnished with vinyl-covered front buckets and a matching rear seat as well as coordinating door panels, a center console with a horseshoe-style shifter, and a tilt steering column with a 2-spoke steering wheel. Black carpeting covers the floorboards.

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, a generator warning light, and center console-mounted oil pressure and coolant temperature gauges. The odometer shows 21K miles, but true mileage is unknown.

This 1969 Caprice is powered by a reportedly 335-horsepower, numbers-matching 427ci Turbo-Jet V8 factory backed by a Turbo-Hydramatic transmission. Newer parts include the gas tank, sending unit and filters, and fuel pump and upper filters. The carburetor has been rebuilt and fitted with new hoses. According to the seller, the engine has been refreshed with a tune-up and new fluids.

Factory equipment includes a full frame with an independent coil spring front suspension and sway bar, a solid rear drive axle, and newer power front disc and rear drum brakes. Additional photos of the underbody are available in the gallery to the right.
