This 1967 Mercury Cougar hardtop was originally configured with power steering, power disc brakes, and Whisper-Aire Conditioner, and manufactured in Ford's Dearborn, Michigan factory on January 5, 1967. It was repainted in its original color under previous ownership and has been with its current owner for the last 15 years, who has kept it in a heated garage since 2007. During its time with the seller, the car has received several updates, including a front suspension rebuild, KYB rear shocks, replacement door panels and carpeting, and American Racing wheels. Power is provided by an A-code 289ci V8 and delivered to the road through a Select-Shift Merc-O-Matic transmission. Refinished in Inverness Green (code Y) with its reportedly original black vinyl roof over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Cougar is available now and comes with maintenance and repair paperwork, an owner's manual, uninstalled original wheels and hub caps, a Marti Report, and a clear Colorado title in the seller's name.
The previous owner had the exterior repainted in its factory-correct Inverness Green, but the current owner recommends another repaint at some point in the future. The reportedly original black vinyl roof covers the passenger compartment. Features include hideaway headlights, separate front turn signals, vertically ribbed sequential taillights, standalone reverse lights, and dual exhaust outlets. Brightwork highlights the bumpers, side moldings, door handles, and other areas.
The chrome 14-inch American Racing wheels are surrounded by newer radial tires with 2,000 miles on them.
Inside, this Cougar is outfitted with black vinyl front and rear bench seats with lap belts, matching door panels with armrests, and a black dashboard with an aftermarket carpeted cover. According to the seller, the door panels, felt, carpeting, and sill plates have been replaced during their 15 years of ownership. Amenities include power steering, power disc brakes, and a Sony audio head unit. The AC was removed under previous ownership. There is reportedly a slight crack in one of the armrests. The trunk contains a patterned vinyl liner, a spare wheel with a whitewall tire, and a tire iron.
Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, clock, and combination gauge with readouts for the coolant temperature and fuel level and warning lights for the oil pressure and amps. The 5-digit odometer shows 56K miles, but true mileage is unknown.
The A in the VIN indicates this car has a 289ci V8, which sends its power to the road through a Select-Shift Merc-O-Matic transmission. A fan shroud, an upper radiator hose set, and a new windshield washer reservoir and tubing were added under current ownership. The seller reports there is a small leak coming from the transmission pan. Other updates made within the last 15 years include a complete front suspension rebuild, replacement rear shackles, and KYB rear shocks.
Maintenance and repair paperwork, an owner's manual, uninstalled original wheels and hub caps, and a Marti Report will be included with the sale.
