This 1993 Mercury Cougar XR7 two-door coupe has driven 17,544 miles since new and is powered by a 3.8-liter Essex V6 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. This unmodified and garage-kept Cougar resided long-term under a single owner for the majority of its life. It was originally sold at Gordie Boucher Lincoln-Mercury in West Allis, Wisconsin has resided in Wisconsin since new. Features include the Preferred Equipment Group with a tilt steering wheel, a six-way power driver seat, upgraded lighting, and cast aluminum 15” wheels. Finished in Burgundy over matching cloth and vinyl interior, this seventh-generation Cougar is now offered with a clean CARFAX report, sales literature, manuals, a window sticker, and a clear Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.
The Cougar nameplate dates back to the 1960s and evolved through six generations before the 1989 model year when a seventh generation debuted on the Ford MN12 platform as a rear-wheel drive two-door coupe. A facelift was later applied in 1991 which gave the Cougar a revised front fascia and new taillamps. This Cougar XR7 from 1993 wears an original Burgundy finish and is surrounded by color-matched cladding, halogen headlamps, color-keyed sideview mirrors, and bright trim. The body shows an overall condition consistent with the car’s garage-kept, low-mileage state and is free of noteworthy flaws.
Cast aluminum 15” wheels are wrapped in 215/70-series tires. The suspension is four-wheel independent and features gas-pressurized front and rear shocks with front and rear stabilizer bars. Steering and braking are both power-assisted.
The interior is fitted with power-operated burgundy cloth and vinyl bucket seats split by a center console and matched to the door panels, dash, carpeting, and floor mats. Materials are original and well-kept, and the dash and door panels are accented in gloss woodgrain overlays. Amenities include automatic seat belts, power windows, power door locks, tinted glass, dual vanity mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, and a factory AM/FM/cassette radio with a power antenna. The trunk contains a cargo net.
Instrumentation is set up with a 110-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary readouts for voltage, fuel level, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 17,544 miles, which the seller states is an actual reading.
The 3.8-liter Essex V6 has sequential multi-port fuel injection and reportedly runs well. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
The CARFAX report illustrates no accident or damage history. The sale includes manuals, sales literature, and a window sticker.
