This performance-built 2003 Chevrolet SSR retractable-hardtop pickup has been driven 9,700 miles since new and harnesses the power of a Magnuson-supercharged 5.7-liter LS6 V8 paired with a 4L65E 4-speed automatic transmission. Engineered as a custom one-off roadster, this SSR received a stainless-steel exhaust system and features staggered-diameter 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, embroidered floor mats, and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. Finished in Smokin’ Asphalt over an Ebony leather interior, this first-year SSR is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX report and a clear title.
The SSR (Super Sport Roadster) debuted as a retractable hardtop convertible pickup in 2003 on a modified version of the Chevrolet Trailblazer chassis. The design language was derived from the Advance Design Chevrolet pickups released in the late 1940s. This SSR from the initial model year is painted Smokin’ Asphalt and has a color-matched power-retractable hardtop. The vehicle underwent a performance build complete with a motor upgrade and the installation of a stainless-steel exhaust system with dual polished outlets. The exterior features driving lamps, a bright grille bar, and a hard tonneau cover over the cargo bed along with a carpeted mat protecting the bed floor.
Staggered-diameter cast aluminum 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact tires. Stopping power comes from power-assisted anti-lock disc brakes. Steering is power-assisted. According to the CARFAX report, the suspension was serviced in September of 2021.
The two-seat interior is fitted with Ebony leather bucket seats matched to the door panels, center console, dash, carpeting, and SSR-embossed floor mats. Amenities include a power driver’s seat, power windows, power door locks, keyless entry, an AM/FM/CD stereo, dual-zone climate control, a tilt-adjustable steering column, tinted windows, and cruise control.
Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, a 6K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer reads 9,700 miles, which is in line with the last mileage figure entered on the CARFAX report.
The upgraded fuel-injected 5.7-liter LS6 V8 has been enhanced with a Magnuson water-cooled supercharger. Power is sent to the road via a console-shifted 4L65E 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and a Yank torque convertor, and a rear differential with performance gearing.
The CARFAX report starts in January of 2004 and shows an accident-free vehicle history in Florida. A $200 dealer fee will be added to the purchase price. Texas residents will be responsible for a 6.25 percent sales tax and a 0.2217 percent state inventory tax.
