Vehicle Story

This modified 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E is a limited-production European-market sport sedan that was developed jointly with Porsche and later custom-tuned by Azzurre Motoring in Japan. Under the hood, the rebuilt 5.0-liter V8 is paired with a rebuilt 4-speed 722 automatic transmission. Power is sent to the ground through 19-inch Carlsson wheels on low-profile tires. Features include an adjustable suspension, a cat-back performance exhaust system, Louis Vuitton interior materials, and an Eclipse sound system. Finished in Deep Blue Metallic, this W124 500E is now offered by the selling dealer with service records, three keys, books, manuals, and a clear Florida title.

First going into production in 1991, the 500E was a high-performance variant of the W124-chassis executive car that was developed in partnership with Porsche. Custom treatment was applied including flared body panels, side skirts, a front air dam, and a wider track. This 500E from 1992 was taken down to bare metal and refinished in Deep Blue Metallic to an OEM standard, according to the selling dealer. The car was modified and tuned by Azzure Motoring in Japan and features a shaved hood ornament, window visors, a solid roof, clear turn signal lenses, a shaved trunk lock, and blacked-out badging. The headlights and fog lights have been upgraded to HIDs and the taillights have been changed to LED bulbs.

Gloss black 19-inch Carlsson model 1/16 wheels are set inside of low-profile tires. Handling comes from an adjustable lowered suspension. The braking system has been upgraded to a Porsche-derived Brembo system with stainless-steel braided lines.

The cabin is trimmed with power-adjustable gray Louis Vuitton suede and black leather front bucket seats and a matching rear bench, door panels, headliner, and sun visors. The footwells are protected by red and black checkered mats. Other features include stainless-steel AMG-branded door sills, aluminum pedals, marble-finish trim, a Raid Porsche steering wheel, and an Eclipse AM/FM/CD/DVD audio system connected to a Kicker subwoofer and amplifier in the rear deck. Conveniences include power windows, power door locks, cruise control, and air conditioning.

Instrumentation consists of a 260-kph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for the coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 172,988 kilometers (107,490 miles), but true mileage is unknown.

The rebuilt 5.0-liter M119 V8 was rated at 322 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. The engine bay has a rebuilt engine harness and a strut bar for increased rigidity. A cat-back exhaust has been installed that retains the factory catalytic converters in the mid-pipe. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a rebuilt 4-speed 722 automatic transmission.

Photos showing the rust-free underside are available in the carousel.

The sale includes service records, three keys, books, and manuals.
