This 2002 Ford Thunderbird convertible has been driven 32,243 miles since new and is powered by a 3.9-liter V8 paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. It was initially sold to its first owner in Texas in January of 2003 and was garage-kept in that area until being relocated to Arizona two decades later. Service history includes over 20 dealer-based maintenance entries and equipment includes 17-inch chrome wheels, an AM/FM radio with a 6-CD changer, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Finished in Inspiration Yellow with a matching removable hardtop as well as a black retractable soft top over a black leather interior, this 11th-generation Thunderbird is now offered by the selling dealer with two keys, a window sticker, an owner’s manual, a hardtop stand, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Arizona title.
The Thunderbird personal luxury car got its start in the mid-1950s and evolved through 11 generations over the course of its lifetime. After a five-year absence, the most recent generation debuted in 2002 with manufacturing taking place at Ford’s Wixom plant in Michigan. Riding on the DEW98 platform, the Thunderbird featured design language that harkened back to the first-generation Thunderbird and included a removable hardtop. This Thunderbird from that first year is painted Inspiration Yellow and features a color-matched removable hardtop with porthole windows along with a black cloth power-retractable soft top. The exterior features fog lamps, a hood scoop, color-keyed mirror caps, and a dual exhaust system.
Chrome-finished 17-inch cast aluminum wheels are set inside of Continental tires. Chassis underpinnings include four-wheel ventilated anti-lock disc brakes, variable-assist power steering, and an independent suspension.
The two-seat interior is fitted with power-adjustable black leather seating that is matched to the other cabin materials. Features include dual-zone automatic climate control, speed-sensitive windshield wipers, a power tilt and telescoping steering column, and a stereo with a six-CD changer.
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 32,243 miles, which is a true reading supported by the CARFAX report.
The Jaguar-designed 3.9-liter AJ35 V8 was rated at 252 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque when new. It has received dealership service throughout its lifetime as shown in several records on the CARFAX report. The most recent service was performed at Park Cities Ford Lincoln in Dallas, Texas in March of 2021. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 5-speed 5R44E automatic transmission.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The CARFAX report shows a history free of accidents or damage. The vehicle passed a Texas emissions inspection in 2021. The sale includes a window sticker, owner’s manual, two keys, and a hardtop stand.
