Vehicle Story

This 1996 Toyota Crown Royal Saloon G is a Japanese-market, right-hand-drive executive sedan that was imported to the United States in early 2022 and is powered by an unmodified 2.5-liter 1JZ-GE inline-6 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. This S150-series Crown comes equipped with climate controls for both front and rear passengers, power convenience options, 15-inch aluminum wheels, and Japanese-market content including a bumper parking pole. Finished in two-tone white and silver over a charcoal cloth interior, this tenth-generation Crown is now offered with an owner’s manual in Japanese and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.

The Crown luxury sedan got its start in the mid-1950s in Japan and has been sold in Asian markets consistently since that time, although it has not been offered in the United States. The tenth generation was introduced in 1995 carrying the S150 nameplate internally and offering a revised squared-off design and external trim. This unmodified Crown Royal Saloon G from 1996 is painted two-tone white and silver. It was imported to the United States in early 2022 adhering to age-based import regulations. Features include a parking pole, frameless doors, chrome handles, and Royal Touring script badging.

Machined aluminum multi-spoke 15-inch wheels with Crown logo center caps are set inside of tires with black sidewall lettering. This generation of Crown was the first to use unibody construction.

The right-hand-drive interior is fitted with charcoal velour upholstery for the front buckets and rear bench, matched to the door panels, dash, console, and carpeting. The cabin is trimmed with glossy woodgrain accents. Amenities include power-operated oscillating air vents, automatic climate control, tinted and power-operated windows with a driver-side auto-down feature, power mirrors, front and rear defrosters, a full-color infotainment screen, window curtains, and rear-seat audio and HVAC controls.

Instrumentation consists of a 180-kph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 127K kilometers (~79K miles).

The 2.5-liter 1JZ-GE inline-6 was rated at 220 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 4-speed automatic transmission.

The sale includes an owner’s manual in Japanese.
