Vehicle Story

This well-maintained 2001 Jaguar XKR is an unmodified British grand touring convertible that has been driven 71,670 miles since new and harnesses power from a supercharged 4.0-liter V8 paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. It has been in Arizona since 2010 and carries documented service history back to new that shows consistent oil changes, a recent alignment, a brake system service, fresh coolant, and new drive belts within the past several months. Finished in British Racing Green with a power-retractable tan soft top over a Cashmere leather interior, this first-generation XKR is now offered with service records, manuals, two regular keys, one valet key, a remote control key fob, a Jaguar Multi-Point Inspection Report, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Arizona title in the seller’s name.

Launched as a grand tourer in 1997, the XK series was assembled in Coventry, England and offered as a 2+2 in coupe and convertible forms. A performance-focused XKR variant debuted later with a supercharged powerplant. This British Racing Green 2001 XKR features a power-operated retractable tan soft top, fog lamps, a vented hood, a rear lip spoiler, and dual polished exhaust outlets.

Polished aluminum 18-inch wheels are surrounded by tires that were replaced in December of 2021. Braking is handled by four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and a standard traction-control system. The CARFAX report indicates that an alignment was performed in February of 2022. Service records show that the outer tie rods were replaced in January of the same year.

The cabin is fitted with power-adjustable and heated Cashmere leather bucket front seats, with corresponding materials on the door panels, dash, carpeting, and rear seats. The interior is accented with glossy wood veneers across the dash, console, and steering wheel. Amenities include automatic climate control, an Alpine stereo system with a CD changer, cruise control, power windows, power door locks, and power-adjustable headrests.

Instrumentation includes a 170-mph speedometer, a 7,500-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer currently shows 71,670 miles, according to the CARFAX report.

The 4.0-liter AJ27S V8 uses an Eaton supercharger and produced 370 horsepower and 387 lb-ft of torque when new. Service history per the CARFAX report shows maintenance performed in January of 2022 at Jaguar Land Rover in Chandler, Arizona. As shown in the carousel, an Excel spreadsheet outlines vehicle service history back to new with recent work including the replacement of the fuel filter, coolant, accessory belts, and more in 2022 to date. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 5-speed W5A580 automatic transmission.

The CARFAX report shows a vehicle history free of accidents or damage. The vehicle passed an Arizona emissions inspection in December of 2021. The sale includes service records, manuals, two regular keys, one valet key, a remote control key fob, and a Jaguar Multi-Point Inspection Report. The seller has provided two videos with additional details below.

Fun fact - this XKR has more horsepower than a contemporary Mercedes SL600...

Hello everyone, getting into the final day, bid early and often! There are other auction sites, which I will not mention, where the seller tends to get a lot of detailed questions and even if the askers are not bidders it does create a rich picture of the car. So, I did a walk around the car this morning with 'what if I had just bought this' eyes. A few things to report. The odometer right now reads 72198. I will try not to drive it now, but honestly in these beautiful Arizona spring mornings and evenings it is hard to resist. The front left wheel arch has a slight scrape which I cannot pick out in the photos but the walk around video at 0:13 shows. It is around 10 o'clock on the wheel arch perimeter. The left head light has two little water drop trails on the lower surface of the internal reflector which you can see with eagle eyes at 0:06 - funny how much more detail the video captures compared to the photos. The right headlight has a one inch faintly cloudy spot in the same general area inside the headlight. I had not noticed these before but guessing there is a headlight seal that needs attention if you live in a wet location. Each wheel has some minor curb rash, per photos and video. I think that is it. On my most recent visit to my mechanic I was feeling spendy but the only thing he could find was the tie rod ends each of which had a small crack in the rubber boot but was still full of grease - we replaced them anyway. Hope this is helpful... Brian

@rcm – Why are you selling this beautiful car? Thanks ...

I am a car enthusiast working my way through a long bucket list of beautiful cars. Many reasons for the XK8 to make the list: styling of course, the driving experience with big power up front and rear wheel drive, and the lovely interior (especially at night, and especially because this one has the traditional 3 round gauges in the center and not the rectangular navigation screen). However back in 1995 I happened to be doing a project for GM in Japan, and came upon the sheet metal stamping tools that would be used to make the XK8 together with a pilot production body in white, I was blown away by how gorgeous it was!

@BKAlumMIT – Hello all, I am adding a few videos. The one-touch down rear windows (I wonder how many owners have figured out that they are one-touch). The roof opening. The one touch down front windows (for safety Jaguar decided you have to hold the button to raise them). And of course, the roof closing. ...
