This 1965 Factory Five MK3 Roadster is a custom replica inspired by the Shelby 427 Cobra and equipped with modern features such as power steering, power brakes, and a 4.6-liter V8 paired with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. It has accrued 11,000 miles since completion and benefits from a Dynamat-lined interior, bucket seats with leather upholstery and racing harnesses, and a ceramic-coated exhaust system. Finished in PPG Black with a removable Lemans-style hardtop over a red leather interior, this Factory Five build is now offered with a tonneau cover, the removable hardtop, and a clear Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.
This 1965 427 Cobra kit car started out as a MK3 Roadster replica from Factory Five Racing, a specialty facility that has been based in Wareham, Massachusetts since 1995. It has vintage Cobra aesthetics combined with modern parts, materials, and technology. The composite body has a PPG Black finish and features a hood scoop, vented fenders, ceramic-coated side-exit exhausts, tubular chrome roll hoops, and a dual-position snap-on tonneau cover. The cockpit, trunk, and engine bay use laser-cut pre-formed aluminum panels. Brightwork is found on the front and rear bumperettes, windshield trim, and other exterior components.
Black-finished five-spoke American Racing Torq Thrust aluminum wheels with polished lips are wrapped in reportedly new Continental ExtremeContact DWS performance tires. Steering and braking are both power-assisted.
The two-seat cockpit has been lined with Dynamat sound damping material and features red leather bucket seats with black safety harnesses, complemented by red upholstery for the dashboard, door panels, and shift boot. The aluminum-lined trunk contains the battery.
Instrumentation includes a series of Autometer gauges including a 160-mph speedometer, 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer reads 11K miles, which reflects the mileage accrued since the completion of the build.
The 4.6-liter V8 uses a WireDiet wiring harness and transfers power to the rear wheels via a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok rear axle with 3.73 gears.
