This 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster four-door sedan is the product of a reportedly $60,000 build and has been in the current owner's family for 50 years. Power comes from a performance-tuned Vortec 6.0-liter LQ4 LS V8 paired with a replacement 4L60E 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission. This Fleetmaster recently received service to its braking and cooling systems and is described as being in excellent shape. Dressed in light green with a dark green roof over a reupholstered teal cloth interior, this Fleetmaster is now offered with a windshield visor, a spare grille, a dynamometer printout, service records, and a clear Alberta registration in the seller’s name.
The Fleetmaster model launched in 1946 on the General Motors A-body platform, carrying over a handful of design changes for the subsequent year including a new radiator grille. This 1947 Fleetmaster four-door sedan has been part of the seller’s family since new. A prior restoration brought new light green paint and a dark green roof. Surrounding brightwork includes the bumpers with guards, grille, headlight rings, and other moldings. The body features a two-piece windshield.
Body-colored wheels with polished hubcaps are wrapped in new whitewall tires. Braking comes from drums on all four corners, with all new wheel cylinders and other components installed in 2019.
The interior is fitted with reupholstered teal cloth bench seating both front and rear, with dark green lap belts added. The door panels and carpeting are color-coordinated and the dash is finished with glossy woodgrain trim, along with bright trim featured throughout the cabin. The seller notes the windshield wiper motor was removed due to being inoperable.
Instrumentation includes an analog clock, a 160-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. A 5-digit aftermarket digital odometer currently shows 156 km, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The replacement 6.0-liter Vortec V8 was sourced from a 2006 GMC and installed by CCMR Performance, a specialty performance shop in Spruce Grove, Alberta. Upgrades include a replacement water pump, new camshaft, modified throttle pedal linkage assembly, an aluminum radiator, replacement of the master cylinder, a modified exhaust system, and more. A 2019 Dynojet dynamometer report found this powertrain produces 254 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque. Recent maintenance includes replacement of the oil, filter, and transmission fluid in September 2020. Power is directed to the back wheels via a 4L60E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and a 9-inch Ford rear end with 3.73 gears.
