This 1998 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT has been driven 88,265 miles and is powered by a DOHC 4.6-liter V8 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. This Mustang has resided in Michigan since new and demonstrates well-kept finishes both inside and out, featuring 17” Cobra-specific wheels, an upgraded audio system, and a dual exhaust system. Finished in Laser Red over a black leather interior, this fourth-generation Mustang is now offered by the selling dealer with two key fobs, a CARFAX report, and a clear Michigan title.
The Mustang pony car grew into its fourth generation beginning in 1994 after being developed under the design code name SN-95. Engineering was based on an updated version of the Fox platform with styling derived by Bud Magaldi. This SVT Cobra from 1998 is painted Laser Red and presents well per the selling dealer. The body features a sculpted hood, fog lamps, Cobra emblems, black sideview mirrors, a rear spoiler, an SVT trunk badge, and a dual exhaust system.
Cast-aluminum five-spoke 17” Cobra-specific wheels are mounted to 275/40 tires up front and 315/35 tires out back. Braking is handled by a set of four anti-lock disc brakes, and steering is power-assisted.
The cockpit is fitted with black leather bucket seats, matched to the door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, interval wipers, and an AM/FM/CD audio system with an added Bazooka subwoofer.
SVT instrumentation includes white-faced gauges for the 160-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 88,265 miles, which is a true reading supported by the CARFAX report.
The 4.6-liter DOHC V8 bears a builder’s tag from Ford’s Special Vehicles Team (SVT) and was factory rated at 305 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque when new. An aftermarket air intake has been installed, and the CARFAX shows that an oil and filter change took place in June 2020. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The CARFAX report shows accidents dated 2002 and 2008 to the left and front sides respectively, but the selling dealer states that there are no lasting signs of damage. The sale includes two key fobs.
