Vehicle Story

This 1976 Porsche 912E is finished in green over a tan leather interior and is powered by its original, matching-numbers 2.0-liter flat-4 cylinder engine and 5-speed manual transmission.  It is one of 2,092 built for the 1976 model year and was slotted as an entry-level offering for Porsche in the U.S. sharing the chassis with the 911.  Equipment includes an electric sunroof, air conditioning, fog lamps, and factory Blaupunkt radio. With recent comprehensive servicing from a factory-trained technician at a Porsche dealer, this low-mileage 912E is now offered with a clean New York title in the seller’s name.

The car retains its original color, Ice Green Metallic finish. Utilizing the same body and chassis as the 911, the 912E shares many of the same design features such as polished headlight trim rings, accordion-style impact bumpers, polished window trim, and a black grille over the engine compartment.

Factory 14” Fuchs five-spoke aluminum wheels with center Porsche crests are mounted to Vredestein 185-series Sprint Classic tires on all four corners.  Chassis architecture for the 912E was shared with the more expensive 911 and utilized many of the suspension and braking components including 4 wheel disc brakes and torsion bar suspension.

The interior is fitted with bucket seats upholstered in perforated tan leather with matching carpet, door panels, and dash pad. The 3-spoke padded steering wheel, door handles, and seat belts are black for contrast.  The vehicle has a floor-mounted shifter and manual cranks for the roll-up windows and the dash houses a Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo as well as controls for the air conditioning.

Instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and a coolant temperature gauge.  The six-digit odometer reads 68k miles, of which about 200 miles have been added by the seller over ten months of ownership.

The rear-mounted 2.0-liter flat-4 cylinder engine is original to the car and was factory rated at 90 horsepower when new.  The seller indicates that Porsche Warrington serviced the vehicle in January 2020 and receipts are available.  Among the service items completed for the mechanical refresh were work to the brakes, sunroof, and air conditioning as well as a new battery and tires.  In addition, all fluids and belts were changed at the same time.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission that is original to the car as well.

A space-saver spare is housed in the carpeted front trunk, as well as the access panel to the fuse box and reservoir for the brake master cylinder. Additional photos available in the gallery

Included with the sale is all receipts from the most recent service work as well as various records dating back to when the car was new.
