1950 Mercury Sedan

This custom 1950 Mercury four-door sedan is an older restoration that has been with the seller for 20 years and is powered by a 4-barrel Chevrolet 350ci V8 crate engine backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering, power front disc brakes, a tilt steering column, an aftermarket stereo, a lowered suspension, and tinted windows. This black Mercury with a black vinyl interior is available now and comes with a clear title.

The body of this Mercury was shaved, customized, and refinished in gloss black under previous ownership. Features include shaved hood trim, emblems, side trim, and trunk trim and handle; frenched headlights; and a driver-side peep mirror. The seller notes a few small bubbles in the paint where the body modifications took place.

A set of billet aluminum Weld 3-spoke wheels with a flame pattern are wrapped in radial tires.

The front bench seat, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in black vinyl. Features include 3-point front seatbelts, black carpeting, custom “50 Merc” door panel embroidery, chrome window reveals, a tilt steering column topped with a billet aluminum Weld steering wheel with a flame pattern, a floor-mounted automatic transmission shifter, and a glove-box-mounted aftermarket stereo with door-panel-mounted speakers and a subwoofer in the trunk. The seller notes a ¾-inch cut on the driver's side of the rear seat.

A 110-mph sweep speedometer and gauges for the oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and battery voltage are located in a panel ahead of the driver. The 5-digit odometer shows 2,300 miles, but true mileage on the car is unknown. According to the owner, the original gauges in the dashboard do not work. Auxiliary fuel level, coolant, temperature, and amp gauges have been added under the dashboard and function properly.

Power is provided by a Chevrolet 350ci V8 crate engine backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission. Features include chrome finned valve covers, a billet aluminum open-element air cleaner, an aluminum intake with a 4-barrel carburetor, billet aluminum plug wire separators, and ribbed chrome coolant hose covers. In addition, a chrome core support, an electric fan, and an aluminum coolant overflow tank can be seen under the hood. According to the seller, the power steering pulley makes noise and should be replaced.

This Mercury was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle on a perimeter frame. According to the seller, the suspension has been lowered. Stopping power is provided by power front disc brakes and rear drums.
