This 1955 Chevrolet Nomad is finished in Dusk Rose and India Ivory over a gray and ivory vinyl interior. Power is provided by the original 265ci V8 engine paired with a 2-speed Power Glide automatic transmission. The car received a high-level frame-off restoration in 2006 and has been driven less than 200 miles since completion. Acquired by the seller in 2018, the car features its original interior and new whitewall tires. Located in Butler, New Jersey, this Nomad is now offered for sale on a clean New Jersey title in the seller's name.
Factory finished in two-tone Dusk Rose with India Ivory, the car was refinished in 2006 during the frame off restoration and retains all of its original sheet metal. All chrome and polished trim including bumpers, side spears, hood ornament, and window surrounds are in good shape free of any pitting or peeling. The car features a clamshell-style opening in the rear, with the tailgate and upper hatch fitting flush with consistent panel gaps.
The factory 15” steel wheels are finished in Dusk Rose and equipped with polished hubcaps, mounted to recently installed wide whitewall tires all around.
The car retains its factory original interior, complete with white bench seats with "waffle" pattern gray inserts. The two-tone scheme is carried through the door panels while the dash is painted to match the exterior and incorporates a silver trim panel across the face. The headliner is upholstered with white perforated fabric and shows no signs of rips or tears, while the chrome crossbars and interior window trim show no indications of pitting or peeling. Gray lap belts have been added for safety and the original radio has been upgraded with a vintage-look modern unit in the factory location.
The three-spoke steering wheel is finished to match the exterior and features a polished inner trim ring for the horn, while the column is finished to match as well and houses the shifter for the automatic transmission. Instrumentation includes a 110-mph speedometer along with accompanying gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level, while is an analog clock mounted to the dash on the passenger side. Within the past two years, the speedometer was rebuilt, cluster bulbs were replaced and all chrome trim around the bezels was replaced or replated. The five-digit odometer currently reads 153, which is mileage since the restoration was completed in 2006.
The two-barrel 265ci V8 engine is original to the car as is the two-speed Power Glide automatic transmission. The engine bay features a Dusk Rose firewall with semi-gloss black inner fenders, while the engine is finished in the correct Chevrolet Orange with black air cleaner and black "Chevrolet" scripts on the valve covers. The most recent service work includes an oil change and a chassis lube in summer 2020.
