Vehicle Story

This two-owner 2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK 500 pillarless coupe with AMG equipment and has covered 12,700 miles since new, receiving power from a well-maintained 5.0-liter M113 V8 paired with a 5G-Tronic 5-speed automatic transmission. It has been owned in Colorado since new and received regular service as shown in more than 20 entries on the CARFAX report. Equipment includes fog lamps, woodgrain interior trim, 17-inch wheels, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Finished in metallic silver over a gray leather interior, this C209-series CLK 500 is now offered with an owner’s manual, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Colorado title in the seller’s name.

The CLK-Class of grand touring luxury coupes first debuted in 1997 with styling derived from the E-Class. A second generation was brought to market in 2003 on the C209 chassis with refreshed exterior aesthetics and new equipment. This garage-kept, metallic silver CLK 500 from 2004 is equipped with xenon headlights, fog lamps, mirror-mounted turn signal repeaters, AMG-specific body treatment, and a single chrome exhaust finisher.

Aluminum 17-inch AMG-branded wheels are set inside of staggered-width tires.

The cabin is fitted with heated and power-adjustable gray leather bucket front seats and a rear bench, matched to the door panels, center console, and dash. Gloss woodgrain trim is located on the door panels, dash, and steering wheel. Additional comfort features include dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows, and power door locks.

Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, 7K-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 12,700 miles, which is in line with the mileage shown on the CARFAX report.

The 5.0-liter M113 V8 was rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque when new. The CARFAX report shows more than 20 service records, including work performed in December of 2021 involving the replacement of the transmission mounts, an oil change, a cabin air filter replacement, and a check of the cooling system. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 5G-Tronic 5-speed automatic transmission.

Driving is assisted by four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and stability control. The CLK uses a three-link front suspension along with an aluminum rear multi-link setup.

The CARFAX report shows a vehicle history that is free of accidents or damage. The vehicle passed a Colorado emissions inspection in August of 2021. The sale includes an owner’s manual.

@TBirdHunter – Tiger House: I am curious as to why you would sell this Mercedes after 10 months of ownership, when it appears the original owner babied it over almost 18 years. Was the cost of ownership too high? I assume premium gas is required. I am a past Mercedes owner (2007 E350) Question 2: have the engine belts and/or hoses been changed out to your knowledge, given that dry rot can attack these rubber parts even with low mileage. Same with the tires - I assume they would have plenty of tread life left assuming they are the factory originals. At times, they can dry rot, although they appear fine in the photos. Thanks ...

Hello TbirdHunter, the cost of ownership is completely average compared to a normal car and much lower than any other Mercedes I have owned. The only ownership money I have spent is normal maintenance and preventative maintenance just as any other car. Yes, it requires premium gas. The vehicle was recently serviced by what I consider the best Mercedes shop in Colorado. The shop went way beyond and over everything in this car and there is absolutely zero issues. Even looking at the bolts underneath the vehicle look like they were installed yesterday. The tires are factory originals which are fine, however I would recommend for the next owner to swap them out for something newer since the lifespan of tires is about 10 years. This car is true gem and I hate to sell it however I could use the money for my newly started business. Thanks
