Vehicle Story

This 1956 Ford Crown Victoria is finished in Raven Black over a black and white vinyl interior. Powered by its factory original 312ci V8 derived from the Ford Thunderbird, power is sent to the rear wheels through a Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. Acquired by the seller and relocated to South Jordan, Utah in 2005, the Crown Vic had spent time in New Jersey prior to acquisition. Equipment includes power steering, continental kit, fender skirts, and an aftermarket stereo. Now offered for sale, the Crown Vic carries a clear Utah title in the seller's name.

Originally finished in Raven Black, the car received a respray in 2001. All chrome and stainless-steel trim was replated, polished, or replaced while emblems around the car are original. The Crown Victoria features unique "basket handle" chrome trim that wraps around the middle of the roof and down the B-pillars, while additional trim runs the length of the car, starting at the top of the fenders and flowing down onto the door and quarter panel. Additional styling elements include dual antennas, fenders skirts, and a continental kit.

15” The car rides on factory steel wheels with two-piece chrome hubcaps wrapped in period-correct whitewall tires measuring 215/75 on all four corners. Braking is provided by manual drums all around.

Inside, the Crown Victoria features front and rear bench seats, reupholstered in the original factory color combo of black and white vinyl, along with matching door panels and black carpeting. The dash is finished in black to match the exterior with white trim across the face and chrome bezels around the heater controls and original radio which is non-operable. A modern radio has been installed under the dash directly under the original one.

Behind the factory original three-spoke steering wheel with chrome Ford ring is the gauge cluster which includes a centrally mounted 120-mph speedometer, along with readouts for fuel, engine temperature, and oil pressure. The 5-digit odometer reads over 23K miles, though true mileage is unknown.

Power is provided by a 312ci Y-block V8, which is the same engine used in the Ford Thunderbird and an optional upgrade in the Crown Victoria. The engine compartment was fully restored as well, with the inner fenders and firewall finished in black, while the block, heads and intake manifold are finished in orange. Original style hardware and stickers were used to emphasize factory correctness. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes a minor oil leak from an unspecified location.

The underside of the car was undercoated by the previous owner. Additional photos are available in the gallery.
