This 1951 Willys-Overland Jeepster two-door received a frame-off restoration and presents equipment including a replacement interior, a black cloth retractable top, wide whitewall tires, and a modern sound system. Under the hood resides an upgraded 5.7-liter V8 that is cooled by an aluminum radiator and paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Finished in two-tone red and black over a black interior, this final-year Jeepster is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear Florida title.
The Jeepster open-top two-door was initially developed by Willys-Overland beginning in 1948 and represented a shift toward the passenger-car market from the more utilitarian Jeep market. Its design was simple with a two-door slab-sided design and a phaeton-style open cab. In 1950, the front end was restyled to incorporate a V-shaped grille and new trim. This Jeepster from the final model year in 1951 received a frame-off restoration wherein it was repainted two-tone red and black and was topped by a replacement black cloth retractable top. The body is accentuated with chrome bumpers, a split windshield, and a rear-mounted full-size spare tire.
Smoothed 15-inch chrome wheels are wrapped in wide whitewall tires.
The interior is fitted with black cloth bucket seats and a vinyl rear bench, matched to the door panels, carpeting, and upper dash. The metal dash face is body-color, and features include a wood-rimmed steering wheel and modern Blaupunkt AM/FM/CD stereo with speakers in the kick panels.
Instrumentation encompasses a speedometer, a column-mounted 8K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges across the face of the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 16K miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The upgraded 5.7-liter V8 features a chrome-finished air cleaner and an aluminum radiator. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission.
