1988 Cadillac Eldorado

This 1988 Cadillac Eldorado personal luxury coupe has an upgraded Kenwood sound system, a dual exhaust setup, power convenience options, and all-electronic instrumentation. It is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transaxle and has received new fluids and mechanical work on the suspension, brakes, radiator, alternator, and other systems during the seller’s five years of ownership. Finished in metallic gray over a gray leather and fabric interior, this 11th-generation Eldorado is now offered with owner’s manuals, service records, a CARFAX report, and a clear Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.

The Eldorado was marketed as a personal luxury car when it was introduced as part of the Cadillac model lineup in 1952. When the 11th-generation model debuted in 1986 on the General Motors E-body platform, it was 16 inches shorter than prior models. The exterior was revised in 1988 to include a new egg crate-style grille, bumpers, and trunk lid. This rust-free metallic gray Eldorado two-door from that year features composite headlamps, a hood ornament, framed door glass, and a dual exhaust system.

The factory 14-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in tires that were replaced in March of 2022.

The 2+2 interior is fitted with gray leather and fabric seats, matched to the door panels, center console, and dash. The audio system has been upgraded to a Kenwood AM/FM/CD/XM head unit with custom kick-panel speakers as well as a trunk-mounted subwoofer. Other amenities include embroidered floor mats, tinted windows, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, cruise control, a passenger-side visor vanity mirror, and automatic climate control. The seller notes that there are some cracks in the seats as shown in the photo carousel to the right.

Vehicle information is provided through a digital gauge cluster with a speedometer and other readouts. The digital odometer reads 122K miles, which is in line with the mileage shown on the CARFAX report.

The transverse-mounted fuel-injected 4.5-liter V8 was rated at 155 horsepower when new and was serviced in October of 2021 per the CARFAX report. The fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel filter, drive belts, radiator, and tensioner were replaced in 2019. The alternator was replaced in 2020. Power is transferred to the front wheels via a console-shifted 4-speed automatic transaxle with overdrive.

The four-wheel disc brake pads were replaced in 2019. The four-wheel independent suspension uses MacPherson struts at the front and received adjustable rear air struts in 2021. Steering is power-assisted.

The CARFAX report begins with a record from April of 2002 and shows moderate damage to the passenger-side rear in November of the same year. The sale includes owner’s manuals and service records.
