This 1966 Chevrolet Malibu has only been driven 500 miles since undergoing restoration under previous ownership in 2019. It comes equipped with body-color bumpers, dual side mirrors, and Rally-style wheels with Cooper tires. The cabin features bucket front seats, lap belts, carbon fiber trim, and aftermarket gauges as well as power steering and brakes. Power from the 383ci stroker V8 is delivered to the road through a BorgWarner 4-speed manual gearbox and the rear wheels. Refinished in white over a turquoise vinyl interior, this Malibu is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a car cover, duster, and clear title.
This Chevelle was built in Chevrolet's Lakewood Assembly plant in Atlanta, Georgia. As the paint code Y denotes on the trim tag, it was originally finished in Lemonwood Yellow. During the restoration completed in 2019, the exterior was repainted in white. It features matching bumpers, a vented hood, dual side mirrors, bright rocker panel trim, Malibu script badges on the quarter panels, a black trim panel between the taillights, and dual exhaust outlets.
The Rally-style wheels with Chevrolet center caps and trim rings are surrounded by Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires in a staggered-width layout.
The turquoise vinyl interior comes equipped with bucket front and bench rear seating, matching door panels and carpeting, and a matching dashboard trimmed with carbon fiber accents. Equipment includes vent windows, manual crank windows, lap belts, and a floor-mounted shifter. According to the selling dealer, the blower fan and wipers work and the RetroSound stereo installed in the dashboard powers up, but it doesn't produce any sound.
During the restoration, new gauges were installed. Those consist of an 8K-rpm tachometer, 160-mph speedometer, and readouts for the voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The 6-digit mechanical odometer shows 500 miles, which reflects the mileage accrued since the completion of the restoration. The true mileage on the vehicle is unknown.
The 383ci stroker V8 is connected to a BorgWarner 4-speed manual transmission. Other hardware includes power steering, power brakes, an Edelbrock Performer intake, a Holley carburetor, headers, dual electric fans, and a V-belt setup.
The suspension was equipped with tubular control arms under previous ownership. Additional photos showing the condition of the undercarriage are available in the gallery to the right.
A car cover and duster come with the sale of the car. The selling dealer has posted a video showing the car in greater detail in the gallery to the right. According to them, Minnesota residents are responsible for tax, license, and title procurement fees. Out-of-state buyers will have to pay a $125 Title Procurement fee.
