Vehicle Story

This restored 1951 Mercury M-1 pickup is powered by a 255ci flathead V8 engine backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. Features include manual brakes and steering, manual windows, and a wood bed floor. This two-tone metallic teal and silver Mercury M-1 with a gray vinyl interior is available now and comes with a clear Florida title in the seller's name.

The exterior is finished in a two-tone combination of a teal body and silver fenders. Features include chrome bumpers, dual headlights, a black grille, a Mercury hood emblem, black running boards, a wood bed floor with body-color strips, a Mercury-embossed tailgate, and dual taillights.

A set of black 16-inch wheels with dog dish Mercury hub caps is wrapped in General Jet-Air whitewall bias-ply tires.

The bench seat is upholstered in light gray vinyl. Interior features include body-color sheet metal, a gray headliner, and manual windows, brakes, and steering. Additional features include heat, defrost, a black vinyl floor covering with a floor-mounted manual shifter, and a teal steel dashboard with an AM radio.

A 90-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, battery, and oil pressure are mounted ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 620 miles, which reflects the mileage accrued since the completion of the restoration process. The true mileage on the vehicle is unknown.

Power is provided by a 255ci flathead V8 engine backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. Underhood features include an external oil filter cannister, an oil-bath air filter, a two-barrel downdraft carburetor, a generator, manual steering and brakes, and a 6-volt battery.

This Mercury pickup is factory-equipped with a solid I-beam front axle and solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual 4-wheel drum brakes. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.
