Vehicle Story

This 1969 Dodge Super Bee two-door hardtop received a performance-built 440ci Six-Pack V8 powerplant and an A-833 4-speed manual transmission as part of a full mechanical overhaul. Additional equipment includes a new black hood, power steering, aluminum heads, a COMP Cams camshaft, solid lifters, and an upgraded hydraulic dual-disc clutch. Finished in green with a white tail stripe and a black vinyl top over a white and black vinyl interior, this Super Bee is now offered with a vehicle condition report and a clear New Jersey title in the seller’s name.

The Super Bee came to life as a variant of the Dodge Coronet two-door coupe in 1968 on the B-platform, sharing some engineering and architecture with its Plymouth Roadrunner sibling. The following year, a hardtop option became available and changes were made to the available powertrains. This Super Bee two-door hardtop from 1969 has been repainted green accompanied by a satin black hood with retention pins and a Six-Pack air scoop. The rest of the car is trimmed with Super Bee emblems, a black vinyl roof covering, a driver-side mirror, rear quarter air inlets, and white accent striping on the rear end.

Black steel wheels are wrapped in staggered-sized Cooper tires.

The two-tone interior is fitted with white and black vinyl upholstery for the front buckets and rear bench, matching door panels, and black carpeting. The seller notes that all electrical features are operating as designed. An upgraded Bluetooth-compatible sound system, Kicker front and rear speakers, and a Kenwood subwoofer and amplifier have been installed. Additional features include a Grant steering wheel and a plaid trunk mat.

Instrumentation consists of a 150-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges, along with a column-mounted 10K-rpm aftermarket tachometer with a shift light. A five-digit mechanical odometer tracks accrued mileage, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 440ci Six-Pack V8 is a replacement for the car’s original 383ci V8 and features aluminum heads, sheet-metal valve covers, a COMP Cams camshaft, solid lifters, and shaft-mounted roller rockers. The seller states that an oil change and a valve adjustment were performed in April of 2022. Power is fed to the rear wheels via an upgraded A-833 18-spline 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive that replaced the car’s original automatic. Further transmission upgrades include a RAM dual-disc hydraulic clutch with an 11-inch pressure plate, along with refurbished components for the shifter, bell-housing, and brackets for the conversion. In addition, the 165-amp one-wire alternator was recently replaced.

Stopping power comes from Wilwood disc brakes at the front and drums at the rear. Steering is power-assisted and uses a new Borgeson power steering box.

The sale includes a vehicle condition report.

@seller what’s going on with the driver side fender lower flange in pic #40? It looks incomplete…is this due to corrosion that caused the metal to be trimmed away during past refurbishment ?
