This 1973 Datsun 240Z is finished in New Sight Orange over a black vinyl interior. Power is provided by a 2.8-liter inline-6 cylinder engine, coupled to a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission. Equipped with optional air conditioning and factory Blaupunkt Dual Post radio, the Z carries a build date of October 1972 with registrations in California and Arizona since new. Located in Alsip, Illinois, it is now offered by the selling dealer on a clean Arizona title.
Finished in New Sight Orange from the factory, the car is believed to retain its original single-stage, lacquer-based paint. The brightwork around the windows and along the body is in good condition, show no signs of pitting or peeling, as are the front and rear bumpers. Dual side mirrors are mounted on the doors and the tail panel is finished in semi-gloss black.
The car rides on 14” Western wheels finished in silver, mounted to Cooper C53 Touring tires measuring 185/70 all around. Braking is provided by discs up front and drums in the rear. A spare tire is equipped in the trunk, along with its original jack equipment.
The interior features recently reupholstered black vinyl bucket seats up front, along with matching door panels, carpets, floor mats, and dash. The dealer installed air conditioning is operated through a knob mounted underneath the dash and utilizes the factory vents for airflow. The car retains the original Blaupunkt Dual Post Radio and has been upgraded Rockford Fosgate speakers in the kick panels. The center console is upholstered in the original diamond stitch vinyl and houses the shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission with wood shift knob.
The refinished original wooden steering wheel sits in front of recessed gauges for a 160-mph speedometer and 8K-rpm tachometer. Centrally mounted gauges allow readouts for fuel, engine temperature, oil pressure, and voltage, along with an analog clock. The 5-digit odometer shows 91K miles, though it is unknown if the mileage is original.
Under the hood sits the L28 2.8-liter inline-6 cylinder engine, equipped with a Cannon dual carburetor manifold and rebuilt 36/38mm Weber Carburetors. Cosmetically, the engine features a polished value cover as well as air cleaner housings. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission. The most recent service work includes an overhaul of the timing case.
