This 1962 Pontiac Tempest LeMans is finished in Cameo Ivory over a blue vinyl interior and is powered by a 195ci 4-cylinder engine paired with a rear-mounted two-speed automatic transmission. The car originated in Arizona, where its original owner kept it for 17 years, after which the title was transferred to its subsequent and current owner, who has had it for 50 years. The car underwent a frame-off rotisserie restoration completed in 2017 with no expense spared. Equipment includes air conditioning, vintage-look modern radio, and power steering. Located in Seattle, Washington, this Tempest is now offered by the selling dealer on a clean Washington title.
The car was finished in its original shade of Cameo Ivory, and it received a full body-off-frame rotisserie restoration starting in 2014 and completed in 2017. The bumpers, grille, and exterior trim were all replated or polished and are free of corrosion or pitting. The sweeping body lines of the side profile have Tempest script emblems at the rear quarters. Quad headlamps in the factory billet-style grille provide illumination, and the car has oval taillamps accompanied by a one-piece bumper and single-outlet exhaust at the rear.
Factory 15” steel wheels are finished in black with chrome dog dish style hubcaps and are mounted to white stripe tires on all four corners. The first-generation Tempest is equipped with a four-wheel independent suspension, while manual drums handle braking.
The interior is fitted with professionally reupholstered Yorktown blue bucket seats up front and a bench in the rear with matching blue carpet and door panels. The car is equipped with a dealer-installed under-dash air conditioning unit, converted to R134A refrigerant. A 5-button vintage look stereo is housed within the color-matched dash, with additional speakers located in the kick panels. A red LeMans emblem accents the dash's passenger side, while heater and vent controls are found at the lower left of the dash. A trunk-mounted spare tire, along with accompanying factory jack equipment, resides on a vinyl mat.
Instrumentation is framed by a blue steering wheel with chrome half-trim ring and center-mounted horn, and gauges include a sweeping 120-mph speedometer, along with readouts for coolant temperature, fuel level, and voltage. The five-digit odometer reads 87k miles, which original to the vehicle per the seller.
The 195ci “Trophy” inline-4 cylinder is original to the vehicle and was factory-rated at 155 hp when new. The engine bay has been fully restored with the firewall, and inner fenders are finished to match the body while the engine block, heads, valve covers, and intake manifold are finished in the correct shade of blue. Many of the factory components are retained such as the black air cleaner, generator and the glass washer fluid bottle mounted on the inner fender. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted two-speed automatic transmission.
The underside has been fully restored with all surfaces refinished or replated. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.
The sale includes a handwritten maintenance log and factory promotional literature.
