OVERVIEW

This restored 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is powered by a 350ci Chevrolet LT-1 V8 backed by a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission. Features include power brakes, color-keyed sport mirror caps, front and rear spoilers, sport suspension, a heavy-duty radiator, and the Z28 performance package. Refinished in Mulsanne Blue with black stripes over a black vinyl interior, this garage-kept Camaro Z28 comes with its Protect-O-Plate, vehicle history and authentication documents, and a current New York registration in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

This 1971 Camaro has been verified by Jerry MacNeish and is 1 of 4,862 Z28 Camaros produced in 1971. MacNeish has certified that the trim tag and drivetrain on this Camaro are authentic and that the car was built in the third week of May in 1971 and sold new at Denooyer Brothers Chevrolet in Kalamazoo, Michigan on May 24, 1971. The body has been restored and refinished in Mulsanne Blue with black Z28 stripes. Features include chrome bumpers, a black grille with a Z28 emblem, dual headlamps, color-keyed sport mirror caps with a manual remote driver-side mirror, rocker trim, a three-piece rear spoiler with a Z28 emblem, and quad taillights with integrated reverse lights.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of metallic gray five-spoke Z28 wheels with stainless center caps and trim rings is wrapped in Goodyear Polyglas GT tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The front bucket seats and rear seat are upholstered in black vinyl. Interior features include black trim and door panels with manual windows, black carpeting, a center console with a storage compartment and an M22 four-speed manual transmission shifter, a black vinyl dashboard pad, an AM radio, manual steering, and power brakes.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

A 150-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for the fuel level, amps, and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 59,035 miles.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 350ci LT-1 V8 backed by a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission. Underhood features include power brakes, a windshield washer, a dual-snorkel air cleaner with a chrome lid, and finned cast aluminum valve covers. The documentation included with the sale states that this Camaro retains all of its original components including the air cleaner, carburetor, intake manifold, distributor, heads, block, crank, water pump, alternator, pulleys, 11-inch bell housing, and transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Camaro was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle with 3.73:1 gears, sport suspension, and Positraction. Braking is provided by power brakes. A full-length dual-exhaust system exits at the rear. The front frame stub suspension components, rear axle, and leaf springs have been refinished in matte black. The underbody floors have been refinished in red oxide. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The seller will include the original window sticker, Protect-O-Plate, original bill of sale, warranty packet, original payment receipt, an owner’s manual, a build sheet, and a Jerry MacNeish certificate with a full report with the sale.

AUTOHUNTER ADMIN UPDATE 11/14/22 9:57 AM: This vehicle does not come with a title because New York does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. The seller does have a current New York registration.

Someone put a lot of time and effort in rebuilding this z28..while I’d love to have it,I’ve never been able to keep a single car I’ve had in 55 yrs stock, and I’ve had a lot of Camaros in every body style over the yrs..this car doesn’t belong with me, it’s to nice to be turned into a Resto mod, I’d have AC,in it the first week, and probably after a yr it would have a 454lsx disguised to look stock, and every performance part I could stick under it, and while it might drive better, faster, and handle like a dream,it would be sacrilege for such a limited car today..if it was still the 1980’s well all bets would of been off,..I hope it goes to a good home ,and while I believe cars are built to drive and enjoy some need to be but away to so in another 50 yrs when everyone is driving batteries we can show our grandkids what real cars were..
