OVERVIEW
This 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8 has been with the seller for seven years and has received several new brake, steering, ignition, exhaust, and clutch parts in that time. It is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-6 engine backed by an overhauled four-speed manual transmission. Features include a folding convertible top, bucket seats, manual steering, and manual brakes. Finished in Ice Blue and ivory over a light blue vinyl interior is available now and comes with a Connecticut Registration Certificate in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
The exterior is finished in Ice Blue over ivory. Features include chrome bumpers, fog lights, a chrome grille, dual headlights, a hood scoop, a folding black convertible top, a retractable antenna, and dual taillights.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of chrome knock-off wire wheels is wrapped in radial tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The front bucket seats, rear seat, trim, door panels, and center console are upholstered in light blue vinyl. Features include newer blue carpeting, a newer trafficator, manual windows, manual steering and brakes, an AM radio, a wood dashboard with a black top pad, a console-mounted manual shifter, and a three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel. The seller notes that the door weatherstripping needs to be replaced.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
A 140-mph speedometer, 7K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, water temperature, and oil pressure are located in a woodgrain panel ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 72K miles, 3,700 of which were added under current ownership, but the true mileage on the car is unknown. The seller notes that the fuel gauge and tachometer are not working.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 2.9-liter inline-6 engine backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Features include manual steering, manual brakes, and dual carburetors. The transmission and overdrive have been overhauled. A new clutch pressure plate and bearing, a PerTronix electronic ignition, and new spark plugs have been installed under current ownership. The oil and oil filter were reportedly changed at regular intervals.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Austin-Healey was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual front discs and rear drums. The steering gear, brake booster, brake pads and shoes, front brake calipers, and exhaust system have been replaced under current ownership.

there was some work done for repairs on the under carriage by a certified welder. the left forward leaf spring mount had rusted and let go, the strap was used to keep the repair in place, for alignment. the mount was removed and replaced as necessary. also one of the frame outriggers was professionally replaced.
why is there a strap on the undercarriage?
@CountrySquire – Pic #57, what is with the blue rachet strap? ...
Thanks for your rapid response!
