OVERVIEW
Riding on a true CG sedan chassis, this 1931 Chrysler Imperial was re-bodied by John M. Wheatley in the design of the original LeBaron coachbuilt roadsters. It has been with the seller for over 20 years and is powered by a 384ci L-head inline-8 engine backed by a manual transmission. Features include custom roadster coachwork, hydraulic brakes, dual side-mounted spare tires, a rear luggage rack, a folding cloth convertible top, a mid-body storage compartment, and a rumble seat. This red and maroon Chrysler Imperial with a beige top and a red leather interior comes from the seller with a clear Washington title.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
This 1931 Chrysler Imperial has newer custom roadster coachwork crafted by John M. Wheatley of Tulsa, Oklahoma and comes in a red and maroon two-tone finish. Features include chrome bumpers, chrome headlight buckets, a chrome grille, dual side-mounted spare tires with attached mirrors, a split windscreen, cowl lamps, a folding tan cloth convertible top, a mid-body cargo compartment, and a rumble seat. Additional features include a body-colored luggage rack and a single taillight.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of chrome wire wheels with chrome center caps is wearing whitewall bias-ply tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The bench seat, rumble seat, interior trim, and door panels are upholstered with red leather. Features include maroon carpeting, a floor-mounted manual shifter, an emergency brake, a body-colored steel dashboard with a red leather top pad, manual hydraulic brakes, and manual steering.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
A 100-mph speedometer, clock, and gauges for the fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature are mounted ahead of the driver.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 384ci L-head inline-8 engine backed by a manual transmission. Underhood features include a green cylinder block, a chrome push rod cover, a generator, a chrome steering column, a cast-iron intake and exhaust manifold, and a single-barrel carburetor.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The chassis was reportedly sourced from a CG Imperial sedan and features an I-beam front axle with a solid rear drive axle. All chassis rails and suspension components are finished in bright red. Braking is provided by manual hydraulic four-wheel drum brakes.
