Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This reportedly numbers-matching 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Special Edition has been restored and receives power from its original 440ci Six Pack V8 mated to a TorqueFlite 727 3-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a vented hood, a dual-exhaust system, Rallye gauges, a center console, and woodgrain trim. Finished in Plum Crazy Metallic with a white vinyl roof over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Challenger is now offered by the selling dealer with a fender tag decoder report, a lawn chair, the removed original steering wheel, a car cover, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This Challenger two-door hardtop from 1970 rides on the Chrysler E-body platform and comes equipped with the R/T package. It was restored under prior ownership and fully repainted Plum Crazy Metallic (paint code FC7), capped off by a white vinyl roof. The exterior features quad headlights, hood retention pins, chrome mirror caps, a dual-exhaust system, and a formal rear window that was part of the Special Edition trim level. The selling dealer states that the paint shows well and the brightwork is in good condition.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Polished aluminum 15-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Wingfoot HP raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cockpit is fitted with black vinyl high-back bucket seats, a matching rear bench, and color-coordinated materials for the door panels, lap belts, center console, dash, carpeting, and embroidered floor mats. Amenities include simulated woodgrain trim, an overhead console, a push-button radio, and an aftermarket steering wheel.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Rallye instrumentation is housed within a faux woodgrain bezel and includes a 150-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 83K miles, although the actual mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The reportedly numbers-matching 440ci Six Pack V8 transfers power to the rear wheels via a console-shifted TorqueFlite 727 3-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Steering and braking are power-assisted. Stopping power comes from disc brakes at the front and drums in the rear. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the carousel to the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The sale includes a fender tag decoder report, the removed original steering wheel, a lawn chair, and a car cover. Minnesota residents will be responsible for tax, license, and title procurement fees; out-of-state buyers will have to pay a $125 title procurement fee only. The selling dealer has provided a video below that shows the exterior, the interior, and the engine running.
