This 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible is finished in black over a black interior and is powered by a 502ci V8 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The car was the recipient of a no-expense-spared build completed in 2016 and has been garage kept since. Equipment includes a coil-over suspension, subframe connectors, min-tubs, billet wheels, custom interior, and modern stereo. Located in Palm Beach, Florida, this Firebird is now offered for sale on a clean Florida title in the seller's name.
Finished in black, the car has features both bumpers, side mirrors, and grille painted to match. Features include modifications like shaved door handles with electric poppers, relocated fuel door, Formula style hood with dual scoops, LED taillights, and clear front turn signals. The polished trim around the windshield is in good condition and a black leather boot cover snaps over the power convertible top.
Polished billet five-spoke wheels measure 18" in front and 20" the rear and feature a machined face, while the rear end is equipped with a mini-tub kit to accommodate for wider wheels. Braking is provided by Baer disc brakes on all four corners, and the suspension has been upgraded with Verishock Quickset 1 coil overs and springs as well as Hotchkis subframe connectors and torque arms.
The custom interior which was redone in 2019 features front bucket seats with padded bolsters and a matching rear seat, all upholstered in black leather. The carpeting, door panels, and dash are all upholstered in black to match. A custom-made center console is mounted between the front seats and houses the shifter for the 5-speed transmission and billet aluminum switches for the power windows and other functions. The stereo system is controlled through an iPad integrated into the dash.
The factory steering wheel has been replaced with a polished billet 3-spoke unit and sits in front of a gauge cluster consisting of AutoMeter gauges. Anchored by a 160-mph speedometer, additional instrumentation includes a 10k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The digital odometer reads just over 1k miles, almost all of which have been added by the seller in four years of ownership.
The car is powered by a RamJet 502ci big-block V8 rated at 502 hp and 565 lb-ft of torque, equipped with fuel injection and aluminum heads. The firewall has been smoothed and the entire engine bay has been fully finished in black. Appearance upgrades include polished valve covers, intake manifold, and radiator as well as billet hood hinges and accessory drive. Recent maintenance included an oil change, repair of signal lights, and replacement of the rear shock bushings within the last four months. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a built TKO 5-speed manual transmission and 9" rear axle with a 3.70 positraction differential.
A dual exhaust system is equipped with X-pipe and Wicked Flow mufflers.
The sale includes receipts from the restoration as well as maintenance records from current ownership. '
