Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This one-family-owned 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass two-door coupe was purchased new from Renaud Oldsmobile in Santa Rosa, California. It retains its original black license plates and shows 39,208 miles on the odometer. Under the hood is a recently serviced high-compression Jetfire 330ci V8 backed by a two-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Saffron Yellow over a Willow Gold vinyl interior, this second-generation Cutlass is now offered by the selling dealer with two keys, service records, promotional materials, an owner’s manual, a window sticker, the uninstalled original hubcaps and Quadrajet carburetor, and a clear California title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This 1965 Cutlass two-door coupe was built on the General Motors A-platform and has a rust-free body coated in the factory Saffron Yellow (paint code Y), which was reapplied in 2006. It has been passed down through the same family since new and has been awarded honors by the Goodguys Rod and Custom Association. Exterior features include quad headlights, a driver-side mirror, chrome bumpers and wheel arch moldings, and a dual-exhaust system.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Magnum 500-style 14-inch front and 15-inch rear wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is upholstered with Willow Gold (trim code 944) vinyl low-back bucket seats up front and a bench in the rear, matched to the door panels, dash, lap belts, and carpeting. Amenities include Soft Ray tinted glass, two-speed windshield wipers, a deluxe steering wheel, a visor vanity mirror, an AM radio, an under-dash Sparkomatic 8-track player, and a vinyl trunk liner along with a spare tire.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation is portrayed by a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, an analog clock, and warning lights for other vehicle systems. A coolant temperature gauge and a Sunpro 8K-rpm tachometer have been added underneath the dash to the left of the steering column. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 39K miles, which is believed to be a true mileage reading, although the actual mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 330ci Jetfire Rocket high-compression V8 is fed by a Holley carburetor and was serviced in preparation for the sale. The engine reportedly produces 310 horsepower. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted two-speed automatic transmission. The selling dealer has provided a cold start video as well as two driving videos below.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Steering is power-assisted. Additional photos showing the underside of the vehicle are available in the gallery to the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The sale includes two keys, service records, promotional materials, an owner’s manual, and a laminated window sticker showing an original retail price of $3,415.86. Additionally, the selling dealer will include the car’s uninstalled original hubcaps and Quadrajet carburetor.
