Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1968 Chevrolet C20 project truck has been part of the same family for over 25 years. It draws power from a 305ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and recently underwent a mechanical refurbishment that included work to the ignition system, cooling system, electrical system, belts, hoses, and fluids. Finished in light green over a gray cloth interior, this restoration-ready C20 is now offered by the late owner's son with repair receipts and a clear Washington title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This 1968 C20 three-quarter-ton pickup comes from Chevrolet’s Action Line era of pickups. Its exterior had a worn matte light green finish and complete exterior trim. Features include a front bumper guard, side moldings, dual side mirrors, cab lights, color-matched bumpers, and side-exit exhausts. The passenger-side pane of the sliding rear window is plexiglass affixed with tape and the seller notes that there are rust spots in some areas, including the driver- and passenger-side floor pan joints, the body surface, the interior of the bed, wheel wells, and the engine bay.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

White steel wheels with chrome center caps show visible patina and come wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with a gray patterned cloth bench seat while the rest of the cab is color-matched to the exterior of the vehicle. Features include rubber flooring, wing vent windows, lap belts, and an aftermarket horn. The visors are torn and taped, and the heater does not work, according to the seller. They also note this truck does not have power steering.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and an aftermarket coolant temperature gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer has rolled over and currently reads 28K miles, which equates to 128K miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 305ci V8 was rated at 145 horsepower and 244 lb-ft of torque, per the seller. Recent maintenance includes the replacement of the radiator, hoses, heater core, water pump, belts, alternator, air filter, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap, rotor, timing set, and air filter. Additional electrical work was done in August, including the replacement of the headlights, brake lamps, turn signal flashers, bulbs, wiper switch, dome light, fuse box, and ignition switch. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted four-speed manual transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The seller reports the suspension and axles are stock.

@FormulaRacer007 – Yes, motor runs ok. It weeps a little oil from the valve covers and uses more coolant than I'd like but it ran for 3 hrs. at the auto shop when they dropped in the new radiator. I'll check on any number. ...

Engine block stamp code is T0903CPM7. So it was made at Tonawanda Sept. 3, 1977 and is a 305 V8. The correction has been in the vehicle description.
