This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula is finished in a black and gray two-tone exterior over a black velour interior and is powered by the original 350ci V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. This Firebird is a completely original, one-owner car, driven and maintained over the years by its original purchaser who consigned the car with the selling dealer. Factory equipment includes power windows, brakes & steering, air conditioning, positraction rear end, Rallye wheels. Located in Alsip, Illinois, this Firebird is now offered for sale by the selling dealer on a clean Illinois title in the original owner's name.
The car retains its original black over gray two-tone finish complete with red side striping and Firebird insignia on the rear. The hood features dual simulated scoops while a three-piece spoiler is mounted on the trunk and rear quarters. The car has had no prior paint or bodywork and all glass is in good condition. 1979 model year saw several design changes, most notably the front fascia with two individual headlights on each side and grille openings relocated underneath. Additional features include side mirror housings finished matching the body, a full-length taillight panel with a hidden fuel door and front and rear urethane bumpers.
The original 15” Pontiac Rallye wheels are mounted to Goodyear Eagle GT raised-white-letter radial tires. The car retains the original space-saver spare in the trunk, along with the filler can and jack. The car is equipped with power steering and while braking is handled by power-assisted discs.
The original interior features bucket seats upholstered in black velour, with matching black carpet, door panels and dash. Equipment includes power windows, power door locks, air conditioning, and a three-spoke, tilt steering wheel with the Firebird logo. The audio system is the car’s original AM/FM head unit with an 8-track player and two rear speakers, while wood veneer trim covers the dash face.
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and an integrated analog clock. Accompanying gauges include oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer reads 49k miles, all of which have been added by the seller since the original purchase.
The 350ci V8 is original to the car and unmodified. All original components are retained such as the air cleaner with snorkel intake, valve covers, and manifolds. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted, 3-speed automatic transmission and a positraction rear axle.
