OVERVIEW
This 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS received nearly $5,000 in brake and suspension parts and service in 2021 and is powered by a dual-quad 409ci Turbo-Fire V8 backed by a four-speed Muncie M20 manual transmission. Features include SS emblems, bucket seats, a factory tachometer, manual steering and brakes, and a digital AM/FM/cassette stereo. Refinished in Azure Aqua over a black vinyl interior, this Impala is being sold on behalf of the current owner by a friend and comes with service records and a clear Texas title.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
The exterior was repainted in the original Azure Aqua early in the car's life, according to the seller. Features include chrome bumpers, an aluminum grille with quad headlights, 409 engine call-out emblems, dual mirrors, SS emblems, a rear antenna, and six taillights. The seller notes minimal rust and minor blemishes that can be seen in the photos in the carousel to the right.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 14-inch steel wheels with correct full hub caps is wrapped in bias-ply whitewall tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The front bucket seats, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in black vinyl. Features in the reportedly original interior include a center console with a manual transmission shifter and an SS emblem, black carpeting, black rubber floor mats, a black dashboard with a vinyl top pad, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, manual brakes and steering, and manual windows. The seller notes a few minor spots of wear.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer, a factory 6K-rpm tachometer, a clock, a fuel level gauge, and warning lights for the coolant temperature, oil pressure, and generator are located ahead of the driver. A pair of aftermarket gauges with readouts for the coolant temperature and oil pressure are mounted under the dashboard. The odometer reads 80,324 miles, which the seller believes to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 409ci Turbo-Fire V8 with dual four-barrel carburetors and a reported output of 425 horsepower, all backed by a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission. Underhood features include a chrome air cleaner, a chrome alternator, chrome valve covers, and a windshield washer. According to the seller, fuel leaks were repaired at the carburetor, and front and rear brake shoes, four wheel cylinders, and front and rear brake drum hardware kits were installed.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Impala is factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. A dual-exhaust system exits at the rear. Braking is provided by manual drums. According to the seller, the front and rear suspension parts were removed and cleaned, and the bushings, rear axle bearings, axle shaft, and bearing retainers were replaced. Additionally, the tie rod ends, ball joints, and idler arm were replaced; the lower control arms, sway bar, and front and rear suspension parts were refinished.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The seller will include service records with the sale.
