This 1957 Chevrolet Nomad Bel Air is finished in two-tone Dusk Pearl and Imperial Ivory over silver and black interior. The car is powered by a 283ci V8 paired with a 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The car underwent a concourse level frame-off restoration in 2018 and has been driven less than 500 miles since completion. Equipment includes factory tinted glass, Bel Air trim, power brakes, AM radio, and dual exhaust. Located in Pleasanton, California, this Nomad is now offered on a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car was fully and professionally frame-off restored in 2018 where it was refinished in its original two-tone combination of Imperial Ivory and Dusk Pearl. Gold accent trim consists of front fender chevrons, tail fin inserts, hood “V”, and Bel Air scripts on the tail fin trim panels. All exterior trim is in excellent condition with no signs of pitting or corrosion while all glass is free of cracks or chips. The seller notes very small paint imperfections near the left side rear window and a touch up on the leading edge of the driver’s door. A hidden fuel filler is housed behind the tailfin trim on the driver's side.
14” steel wheels are equipped with chrome wheel covers with faux knock-off spinners. Diamondback 215/70 wide whitewalls are installed on all four corners, with date codes from 2017 and less than 500 miles on them. The car is equipped with factory power steering while the power brakes have been upgraded with drilled rotors in the front.
The interior is fitted with bench seats upholstered in silver vinyl with black patterned cloth inserts. Matching door panels are equipped with chrome trim strips and hardware for the door handle and window cranks. The dash is finished in black and the face is accented by a full-width metal trim plate surrounding the analog clock, radio, and heater controls. Front lap belts have been added for safety while rubber floor mats were added to protect the black carpet. A spare tire is located in the rear cargo area but does not fit in the tire well due to the larger size wheel required to clear the disc brakes. The headliner is upholstered in gray cloth and features chrome support bars throughout the cabin.
Instrumentation is housed in a silver bezel and includes a 120-mph speedometer which is flanked by gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 54k miles, of which true miles are unknown. Less than 500 miles have been added to the car since the completion of the restoration.
The 283ci V8 has been rebuilt and retains many of its original components except for an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor added to the factory intake manifold, however, the original is included. The engine bay has been fully restored with the firewall finished to match the exterior, while the inner fenders and core support are matte black. During the restoration, a heavy emphasis was placed on using the factory-correct hardware and fasteners Recent maintenance includes a tune-up and an oil change. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
The underside was fully restored with the floor pan finished in red oxide primer and all other components replated or refinished with original factory-style markings added. An aftermarket dual exhaust has been added. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.
The sale includes the original carburetor, jack, tools, and shop manual
