OVERVIEW
This 1978 Chrysler Newport has been upgraded with a RetroSound audio system and comes equipped with whitewall tires and newer brakes. It is powered by a 400ci Firebolt V8 that received a tune-up this summer and sends power rearward through a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. Finished in burgundy with a white vinyl top over a white vinyl interior, this Newport is now offered with the removed rearview mirror, service receipts, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This unmodified, rust-free Newport rides on the Chrysler C-body chassis and comes finished in burgundy with a white vinyl roof. It has been garage-kept during the seller’s three years of ownership and features quad headlights, a hood ornament, chrome bumpers, and bodyside moldings.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 15-inch wheels with full covers are wrapped in Nexen whitewall tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is outfitted with white vinyl front and rear benches, coordinating door panels and headliner, and a contrasting burgundy dash, seat belts, and carpeting. The dash, steering wheel, and other areas of the cabin are trimmed with simulated woodgrain. Additional amenities include embroidered floor mats, a RetroSound Bluetooth-enabled radio, and a power antenna. The seller notes that the air conditioning system needs to be recharged. The photo carousel to the right shows the headliner sagging and the detached rearview mirror, which comes with the car.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for the coolant temperature, alternator, and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 60K miles, which the seller believes to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 400ci Firebolt V8 received a tune-up that included new spark plugs in the summer of 2022; it passed a California emissions test at the same time. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes that there is a small oil leak.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The brakes were serviced in 2021.

Cannot express how much I want this car. So many younger day memeries. Being a retired person on limited income it just isn't affordable to have this shipped to South Carolina. Whomever buys it is very lucky. These were GREAT cars. If you deside later to sell note my email.
