Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air has been with the seller for five years and is powered by a 383ci stroker V8 backed by a Super T-10 four-speed manual transmission. Features include power disc brakes, power steering, aftermarket electric windshield wipers, a Custom Autosound stereo with a trunk-mounted CD changer, and aftermarket air conditioning. Finished in black over a new black and red vinyl and cloth interior, this Bel Air is available now and comes with current New York registration in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The exterior has been finished in black and features chrome bumpers, Bel Air side trim, a fender-mounted antenna, and a trunk-mounted license plate frame. The seller notes there are a couple of chips and nicks in the paint.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of polished aluminum five-spoke American Racing wheels is wrapped in Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The front bench seat, matching rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered with new red and black vinyl and cloth. Features include new black carpeting with black carpeted floor mats, manual windows, power steering and brakes, a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, a Custom Autosound radio, and a trunk-mounted CD player. The seller notes that a new wiring harness has been installed.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A Classic Instruments Tetra-series gauge cluster includes a 140-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage located ahead of the driver. With 1,868 miles added during current ownership, the odometer reads 1,868 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 383ci stroker V8 engine backed by a Super T-10 four-speed manual transmission. Underhood features include aftermarket windshield wipers, black valve covers, a new aftermarket air conditioning compressor, a K&N air filter, an aluminum intake, a roller camshaft, and an Edlebrock carburetor. The seller notes that an oil change was completed 800 miles ago and a new radiator, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and shifter have been installed.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Bel Air was factory-equipped with independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. A set of tubular exhaust headers flows into a 2.5-inch dual-exhaust system with electric cutouts. The front springs, ball joints, and steering components have been replaced and a new gas tank and floor panels have been installed. The original rear end has been upgraded with a Ford nine-inch axle with 3.73:1 gearing and the rear leaf springs have been moved inward to accommodate the rear tires. Upgraded power disc brakes provide stopping power. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.
