1965 AMC Marlin

OVERVIEW

This 1965 Rambler Marlin is a largely original two-door fastback from American Motors Corporation that generates power from a well-maintained 327ci V8 with recent work to the fluids, spark plugs and cooling system. A 3-speed Flash-O-Matic automatic transmission sends power rearward, and driving dynamics are assisted by power steering and power brakes. Finished in two-tone Antigua Red and Classic Black over a black vinyl interior, this first-year Marlin is now offered with promotional materials and a clear Tennessee title in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This Marlin from the model’s initial year is an unmodified fastback that received a respray in two-tone Antigua Red and Classic Black (3A-1A) under prior ownership. Exterior features include quad headlights, chrome brightwork, rocker moldings, and Marlin badging.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Color-matched steel 14-inch wheels with polished hubcaps are wrapped in Michelin whitewall tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats up front and a bench in the rear with a fold-down armrest. The upholstery is carried through to match the door panels, center console, dash, and carpeting, while additional amenities include floor mats, lap belts, and a vinyl-lined trunk with a spare tire. The seller notes that the radio and clock are not operational, and the driver seat shows some wear.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation is conveyed through a 120-mph speedometer accompanied by gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 93K miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 327ci V8 is fed by a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 270 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque when new. It received recent maintenance including replacement of the oil, air filter, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor under the seller’s ownership, and the radiator is an aftermarket aluminum unit. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted Flash-O-Matic BorgWarner 3-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE
