Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This rust-free 1959 Studebaker is a factory-line-built Napco 4x4 powered by four-barrel 289ci V8 engine backed by a five-speed manual overdrive transmission. Features include manual steering, manual brakes, and manual locking front hubs. Finished in Alaska Sky Blue with blue vinyl with gray cloth, this 1959 Studebaker NAPCO 4x4 is available now and comes with restoration photos and documents and a clear title in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

During the restoration, the exterior was refinished in Alaska Sky Blue. Features include a fiberglass white front bumper, a color-keyed fiberglass grille, dual mirrors, driver- and passenger-door vent visors, exterior cab entry handles, a fender-mounted antenna, cab side trim with a Studebaker logo, black rear fender stone guards, a color-keyed tailgate with an embossed Studebaker logo, and a white bumper. The seller states that the body is very straight and clean and the body is showing some shrinkage and age cracks but presents well.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of steel wheels, finished in white with chrome dog dish center caps, and front manual lock out hubs is wrapped in off-road tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The bench seat is upholstered in blue vinyl with a gray cloth seating area. Features include black carpeting, a floor-mounted manual transmission and transfer case shifter, manual windows, brakes, and steering; white door panels, exterior color-matched sheet metal, a blue steel dashboard with a black top pad, and a Napco 4x4 use instruction label.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, battery charging, water temperature, amperage, and vacuum are mounted in a custom panel ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 69,709 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by four-barrel 289ci V8 engine backed by a five-speed manual overdrive transmission. Underhood features include electric windshield wipers, black valve covers, a black air cleaner, and a factory heater core box and a fresh air inlet. According to the seller, all fluids are clean and freshly serviced.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The pickup was equipped from the factory with the Napco four-wheel-drive suspension with part-time four-wheel-drive solid front axle with manual lock-out hubs and a solid main drive Dana 60 rear axle. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drum brakes. A dual exhaust system exits ahead of the rear axle. Additional undercarriage photos can be found in the carousel to the right.
