OVERVIEW
This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is an unmodified performance coupe driven by a 6.6-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. It was initially delivered to Gallo Pontiac in Fulton, New York and is equipped with features including front and rear spoilers, an Alpine audio system, 15-inch snowflake wheels, and air conditioning. Finished in Cameo White over a Carmine Red vinyl interior, this second-generation Firebird is now offered by the selling dealer with a window sticker, owner’s booklets, and a clear Massachusetts title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This Cameo White Trans Am features a chin spoiler, a hood graphic, wheel well air deflectors, concealed windshield wipers, a rear deck spoiler, and a quad-outlet exhaust system. The selling dealer notes that a scratch has been touched up on the passenger door and the presence of a ding in the finish.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Cast aluminum 15-inch snowflake wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cockpit is furnished with Carmine Red vinyl high-back bucket seats and a color-coordinated rear bench, matched with the door panels, dash, and carpeting. The instrument panel is trimmed with engine-turned aluminum. Additional features include an Alpine AM/FM/CD sound system, air conditioning, cruise control, courtesy lighting, a window defroster, a visor vanity mirror, and a tilt steering column.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Rally gauges include a 100-mph speedometer, a 6K-rpm tachometer, an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 40K miles, which the selling dealer believes to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 6.6-liter V8 is fed by a four-barrel carburetor and received an oil change in recent months. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Steering is power-assisted; stopping power comes from disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the carousel to the right.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes owner’s booklets and an original window sticker showing a retail price of $8,499.
