OVERVIEW
This 1987 Porsche 944 hatchback was manufactured in Stuttgart in March of its model year and has been Minnesota-owned since new. It is powered by an M44 2.5-liter inline-four coupled with a five-speed manual transmission and features a power sunroof, fog lamps, phone dial-style wheels, and a rear spoiler. Finished in red over a black leather interior, this 944 is now offered by the selling dealer with owner’s booklets, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Minnesota title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This 944 is dressed in red and accented with black trim for the bumpers, windows, and badging. Features include pop-up headlights, fog lamps, a power-operated sunroof, a rear wiper, and a spoiler.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Silver 15-inch phone dial-style aluminum wheels are wrapped in Cooper CS5 Ultra tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cockpit is outfitted with black leather high-back bucket seats up front and dual seats in the rear, all color-coordinated with the door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include air conditioning with automatic climate control, cruise control, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette head unit, tinted glass, power windows, power mirrors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Vehicle information is delivered through a 170-mph speedometer, a 7,600-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 114,973 miles, which is in line with the last mileage figure shown on the CARFAX report.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The M44 2.5-liter inline-four was rated at 147 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque when new. The CARFAX report shows service history that includes the replacement of a fuel line in June 2022 and an oil change in July 2019. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Braking is handled by power discs, handling is aided by a four-wheel independent suspension, and steering is power-assisted.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The CARFAX report shows a vehicle history free of accidents and damage. The sale includes owner’s booklets.

A beautiful car. I know, I had one. However, unless you are a skilled mechanic, be prepared for a repair a month with this non- reliable sports car. It will easily cost you six thousand dollars a year for parts.

Thanks again. Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone.

@SR – I apologize for not replying over the weekend, I will be back in the office Wednesday and would be happy to take a walk around/driving video. The shifter action is smooth and the clutch feels tight. See also previous reply on your other questions. ...

@gnmikhail – @SR, dear seller, please address the already asked 2 requests for A/C info, one from 3 days ago. Also, how is the clutch and shifter action as well as any history on the critical timing belt service? All are big buck issues which if needed would exceed the current bid. As Genie4me asked below, are there any other issues that need to be addressed? Nothing on these cars is cheap. Is it possible to post walk around and driving videos here; would alleviate lots of concerns. A really nice looking example here but nearing all the money if these questions are not addressed. ...

@genie4me – Residing in Florida, I just want to make sure the A/C is working properly. Is there anything that needs to be repaired, even if it is small? I do understand that the vehicle is 35 years old, and also do understand that there are always repairs needed. The pictures of the vehicle really show that it was very well taken care of. How does it run? ...
The A/C is working properly and has been switched over to R134A. When we inspected the vehicle the power steering hose from the reservoir was leaking and has now been replaced, and one of the spark plug wire boots was electrical taped so we installed a new set of plug wires. There is a receipt for a timing belt change in 2005 but we don't know if it has been done again since then, that is the one maintenance item I would recommend sooner than later. It runs out good and appears that the previous owners took pride keeping it in nice condition.
