OVERVIEW
This 2002 Ford Focus SVT two-door performance hatchback underwent complete mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment within the last 5,000 miles under the seller’s five-year ownership and is powered by a rebuilt 2.0-liter inline-four paired with a Getrag six-speed manual transaxle. Work included an overhaul of the air conditioning system, cooling system, suspension, braking, and various other vehicle systems as detailed below. Refinished in SVT Blue Metallic over a blue and black leather interior, this first-year Focus SVT is now offered with service records, flat-tow equipment, a CARFAX report, and a clear Texas title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This Focus SVT two-door hatchback was resprayed in its factory-correct SVT Blue Metallic in 2019. Features include aftermarket headlights, fog lamps, a Blue Ox towing frame up front, and a tow hitch in the rear. A stainless steel cat-back Borla exhaust system was added along with a stainless steel downpipe. The seller notes the original catalytic converter is still installed.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Graphite-colored 17-inch MSW by OZ aluminum wheels are wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The heated Recaro buckets up front and the rear bench were reupholstered with blue and black leather, tied in with the door panels and complemented by the rest of the interior. Amenities include cruise control, power windows, power door locks, air conditioning, and molded rubber floor mats. The infotainment system is a seven-inch touchscreen unit with Bluetooth, a backup camera, and navigation.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
White-faced SVT-branded instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7,500-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 151,310 miles, which is in line with the mileage shown on the CARFAX report.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The naturally aspirated 2.0-liter DOHC Zetec inline-four was rated at 170 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque when new. It underwent a full rebuild within the last 5,000 miles that was carried out under the direction of Dove Racing LLC. Work included honing the cylinder bores, the installation of new rings, balancing and polishing of the crankshaft, replacement of the main and rod bearings, the installation of a new oil pump, a valve job, and replacement of the camshaft belt, head and rod bolts, head gasket, seals, injectors, water pump, radiator, coolant hoses, power steering pump, fuel pump, fuel injection hoses, and spark plugs. The air conditioning system was overhauled with a new compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier, and hoses. A battery cut-off switch enables the ignition to be in the "on" position while the car is being towed. Torque is fed to the front wheels via a rebuilt Getrag six-speed manual transaxle with new components for the seals, gaskets, clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, and slave cylinder.
UNDERCARRIAGE
As part of the refurbishment, the steering rack was replaced along with the power steering pump and lines. Suspension work to the SVT-tuned underpinnings includes the replacement of the front A-arms, front struts and coil springs, and rear shock absorbers. The braking system was similarly serviced with the replacement of the calipers, pads, and Brake Performance rotors both front and rear. The right and left CV axles and wheel bearings were replaced.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The CARFAX report shows evidence of an accident in 2012 involving damage to the front of the vehicle. The vehicle passed a Texas safety inspection in December 2021. Service records and flat-tow equipment, including a Blue Ox twin-arm towing hitch, a Brake Buddy auxiliary braking unit with mounting brackets and an RV monitoring system, and lighting wiring for displaying the car's turn signals, brake lights, and running lights during towing, will come with the car.

@DinoLord – What was reason for failed emissions inspection last month? ...
Yes you are correct that recently the car failed emissions test in Dallas. This was because of a code that popped up. It was a minor issue that I got fixed. It is not showing any codes now.

The sale of the 2002 Focus SVT includes all equipment needed to be able to flat tow the vehicle behind a vehicle that is equipped with a suitable tow hitch receptacle, and has the capacity to tow the vehicle. I am pointing this out because it allows the option to the successful bidder to bring a vehicle down to Dallas and then flat tow the SVT back home. This could potentially save some money. Alternatively the bidder could fly down to Dallas and drive the vehicle home. Or have the vehicle shipped by commercial transport. .
@GenericBuyer345 – Seems like a pretty complete restoration. Was the car in that poor of condition that it needed all the exterior, interior, engine, and suspension work? Was the car towed to various tracks to race? Thanks! ...
Well the car was running when I bought it, but cosmetically it was not in good shape. To my knowledge the car has never been tracked or raced, certainly not since I have owned it. I originally bought two SVTs from a dealer in Chicago (one of my customers) to be donors for Rocket kit cars (my company was acting as US rep for these kits). I used one for this purpose, but for the blue one, because I really liked the way it looked, drove ,and handled, I decided to completely renovate it and to use it for flat towing behind my RV. The extent of the renovation was probably not all necessary (and the engine was still running without any obvious noises), but because of what I had learnt with the donor cars, and because I wanted to keep it, I decided to do a really thorough job on it. It cost a bunch of money and it was never intended to be a money making business venture. I still love the car but because of my age (82), and deteriorating health, I can no longer drive it. It will make a great fun car for someone that is for sure. I will be happy to answer any other questions that other potential bidders might have. Good luck with the bidding.
