1970 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3

This 1970 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3 is finished in Harvest Beige over a chocolate brown leather interior. One of just over 6,500 made, the W109 is powered by a 6.3-liter M100 V8 engine mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. At the time of its release, the 6.3 was the fastest production sedan in the World.  Features include power steering, power brakes, air-conditioning, electric sunroof, and antenna. New parts include new leather seat skins and carpets, mechanical components, and shocks. Showing 135K miles on the odometer, 1,500 have been added by the seller in their 12 years of ownership. Located in Hollis Hills, New York, this 300SEL 6.3 is offered for sale on a clean New York registration in the seller's name. 

Finished in Harvest Beige, the 300SEL was repainted by the current owner. Features specific to the US model include US-market lighting, chrome bumpers, stainless steel window trim, and an automatic antenna. Polished trim runs the car's length, while the front features an egg-crate style grille with a chrome surround and a 3-point star emblem on top. The roof is equipped with an electric sunroof, which functions with no issue. The body previously had a small rust spot in the passenger wheel well but has since been repaired and the vehicle is rust-free. The seller does note the need for new rubber seals.

 

The factory 14" steel wheels are fitted with chrome hubcaps with painted center sections, with Uniroyal Tigerpaw tires on all four corners. The factory self-leveling air suspension features recently rebuilt valves, new air bellows, new shocks and functions with no issue. The car is also equipped with power steering and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.

The bucket seats have been upholstered with new chocolate brown leather covers, accentuated by matching door panels and new brown carpeting and floor mats. Minor cracks are shown on the passenger side of the brown dash pad; photos are available in the gallery. The cabin is trimmed with recently restored wood accents, while additional features include power windows, air-conditioning, and an aftermarket Sony head unit with CD. The original Becker radio is included in the sale.

Behind the factory steering wheel sits VOD instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6K speedometer, and readouts for fuel level, oil pressure, and engine temperature. 135K miles are shown on the analog odometer and are original to the car, 1,500 of which have been added by the seller over 12 years of ownership.

Under the hood sits the 6.3-liter M100 V8 engine shared with the larger Mercedes 600 Limousine. Equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, it was factory rated at 247 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The seller's recent maintenance includes new engine pipes, a new starter, alternator, injection pump, cold start valves, and electronic chip ignition. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission.
