Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1971 Cadillac Fleetwood "El Deora" station wagon is reportedly one of only three units that were assembled by American Sunroof Corporation using a rear-wheel-drive Sixty Special chassis and elements from related General Motors vehicles. In 2007, it received an exterior restoration as well as a new headliner and carpeting. It draws power from a 472ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and comes with power windows, cruise control, Coker whitewall tires, and a roof-mounted luggage rack. Finished in white over a brown leather interior, this custom Cadillac is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear Illinois title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The body was customized by American Sunroof Corporation (ASC) to include a wagon-style rear end from related General Motors vehicles. The exterior was refinished in white and the brightwork was refurbished in 2007. Features include quad headlights, a chrome luggage rack, vertical taillamps, and “El Deora” badging on the tailgate.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Steel 15-inch wheels with full Cadillac-branded covers are wrapped in Coker whitewalls.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with a brown leather split bench up front, a solid bench in the rear, and coordinating finishes for the dash, door panels, and newer headliner and carpeting. The dash is complemented with woodgrain veneer. Amenities include a push-button radio, power windows, cruise control, automatic climate control, and second-row footrests. The selling dealer notes that the clock and the dome light are inoperative.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a sweeping 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and warning lamps. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 45,562 miles, which the selling dealer believes to be the car’s actual mileage.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 472ci V8 was rated at 345 horsepower and 515 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted TH400 three-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The steering and braking systems are power-assisted. Additional photos of the underbody are available in the gallery to the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The selling dealer has provided a walkaround video with the vehicle at idle.
