1954 CHEVROLET BEL AIR

OVERVIEW

This restored 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible was featured in the Canadian Hot Rods and Chevy Classics magazines. It is powered by a 4.8-liter LS V8 engine backed by a 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission. Features include an air suspension, power disc brakes, a Mustang II independent front suspension, power heated front seats, a Dakota Digital climate control center, power steering, power windows and locks, cruise control, and factory wire hub caps. Finished in burgundy with a tan canvas top over a tan leather interior, this Bel Air is available now and comes from the selling dealer with copies of the magazines it was featured in and Province of Nova Scotia vehicle registration.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration, the exterior was refinished in burgundy. Features include chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, shaved hood and trunk trim, body side trim, rocker panel trim, dual side mirrors, a tan convertible top with a plastic rear window, and rear fender skirts.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of maroon steel wheels with rare factory wire hubcaps is wrapped in whitewall radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The Lexus power-adjustable and heated front bucket seats and the rear seat are upholstered in tan South American leather. Features include a center console with cup holders and air suspension switches, keyless entry with push-button start, power steering and brakes, an electric parking brake, automatic headlights, a tilt steering column with an automatic transmission shifter, and air conditioning with a Dakota Digital climate control center. The cruise control, power window, and windshield wiper switches are hidden in the center console. The trunk is fully upholstered and matches the interior.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A set of Classic Instruments includes a 140-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. The odometer reads 48,223 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 4.8-liter LS V8 and backed by a 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission. Underhood features include a smoothed body-colored firewall, a custom body-colored engine cover, an aluminum fresh air intake tube with a cone filter, braided heat and air conditioning lines, and an aluminum radiator.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The original chassis was modified to accept a Mustang II independent front suspension, a four-link-mounted Chevrolet Blazer solid rear drive axle with 3.42:1 gearing, and an adjustable four-corner air suspension. Braking is provided by power discs.
