Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This restored SS-style 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle is powered by a 396ci V8 engine backed by a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering and brakes, air conditioning, bucket seats, and a center console. Finished in black over a red vinyl interior, this Chevelle is available now and comes from the selling dealer with an uninstalled dashboard speaker and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

According to the previous owner, this car was restored 10 years ago. The exterior is finished in black with white side accent striping. Features include chrome bumpers, a chrome grille with an SS 396 emblem, an SS hood, wheel opening moldings, SS 396 fender emblems, a driver-side mirror, rear tail panel trim, and an SS 396 rear emblem. A detailed walk-around video can be seen below.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of silver and black 14-inch SS Rally wheels with chrome center caps and stainless trim rings is wrapped in 225/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The front bucket seats, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in red vinyl. Features include a center console with a storage compartment and a horseshoe automatic transmission shifter, power steering, power brakes, manual windows, air conditioning, and an AM radio. The selling dealer notes that the air conditioning compressor does not turn on and the radio does not get reception.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer, a clock, a fuel gauge, and warning lights for the generator, temperature, and oil pressures are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 15,059 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 396ci V8 engine and backed by a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Underhood features include a chrome air cleaner, a four-barrel carburetor, an aluminum intake, chrome valve covers, and a windshield washer.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Chevelle was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A full-length dual exhaust system exits at the rear. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Minnesota residents are responsible for tax, license, and title procurement fees; out-of-state buyers have to pay a $125 title procurement fee. The selling dealer will include an uninstalled dashboard speaker as part of the sale.

The seller’s comments are very accurate - they will not represent it as an SS. One immediate indication that it’s not an SS are the front turn signals not having the chrome ring around them. Many Malibu’s have been converted to look like SS’s and it appears that this is one of them. That said it looks very clean in the professional photos

@FredEx – Is this a tribute car as the descriptions seems to indicate it e.g. SS style …? It’s an SA or it’s not. Thanks ...

Thanks for your interest. This car was traded into us just as you see it. Since there is not an original build sheet and the engine is not numbers matching, it cannot be proven as a true SS so we are not representing it as such.

Same question. Is this a factory SS or only aftermarket insignia added?
