This 1999 BMW M3 convertible is finished in Estoril Blue with a dark blue convertible top over a gray leather interior and is powered by a 3.2-liter inline-6 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. With only 4 owners from new, the car was initially sold in Ohio until being relocated to Indiana in 2008, then subsequently to Illinois. Equipment includes fog lamps, power seats, Harmon Kardon audio system, and an overhauled suspension system with performance upgrades. Located in Alsip, Illinois, this E36 M3 is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX report on a clear Illinois title.
The car retains its original Estoril Blue Metallic finish with black side moldings and signature BMW chrome kidney grilles. It is equipped with a new dark blue, power-operated convertible top with a plastic window that retracts into a tonneau enclosure with one-touch functionality. The trunk has a two-pedestal wing spoiler mounted, and the exhaust exits at the left rear bumper through dual polished outlets. M3 badging is featured throughout the exterior, including a trunk-mounted emblem and inserts in both doors' side moldings. The front bumper features a large opening for improved cooling and features dual fog lamps and a black lip spoiler. The rocker panels are equipped with aerodynamic side skirts compared to the standard E36, while the rear bumper features a single exhaust with a double tip.
Factory 17” aluminum wheels with BMW-logo center caps are mounted to Sumitomo tires in 225/40 on all four corners. The car is equipped with anti-lock braking and power four-wheel disc brakes, as well as M-Sport specific suspension tuning. In addition, aftermarket H&R springs and Sachs struts and shocks are installed to augment the car’s handling capabilities.
The interior is fitted with gray leather bucket seats, which are powered operated and heated for the driver and the front passenger. Matching gray carpeting is protected with embroidered black floor mats, while the door panels and dash feature a two-tone light and dark gray scheme. Power accessories include windows (with auto-down), locks, cruise control, and side-view mirrors. Additional factory features dual-zone automatic climate control and a factory Harman-Kardon AM/FM/cassette sound system fitted in the dash. A factory trunk-mounted spare and associated jack equipment are included.
Instrumentation is framed by a leather-wrapped, three-spoke M-Sport steering wheel and includes a 160-mph speedometer and 8k-rpm tachometer, along with accompanying gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and fuel economy. The car also came factory-equipped with the optional on-board computer, which provides fuel consumption data and more. The digital odometer reads 123k miles, which are original to the vehicle.
The 3.2-liter inline-6 is original to the car and was factory rated at 240 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The S52 engine features a cast-iron block and aluminum head with direct injection and variable valve timing. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.
The CARFAX shows no accidents or damage reported, as well as consistent registration renewals in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. The sale includes an original window sticker, owner’s manuals, and other supporting documentation. The original MSRP shows as $49,865 including destination.

@RSPINAJR The top fits nicely on the car. At time of photo it was a cool day here in Chicago. Once the sun and warmth hit the top (like all other rag top cars) it will stretch out. But why keep the top up on this car? Happy bidding!
When did that top go on? Doesn’t look like it fits properly.
