1963 FORD THUNDERBIRD

OVERVIEW

This 1963 Ford Thunderbird is an older restoration that has been with the seller for 20 years. It is powered by a rebuilt 390ci V8 backed by a rebuilt Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. EXTERIOR - FEATURES

The exterior has been refinished in powder blue and features chrome bumpers, a hood scoop, full-length side trim, a manual driver-side remote mirror, a white roof, color-matched fender skirts, and a rear-mounted antenna. The selling dealer notes imperfections and patch work on the body and dings in the bumpers.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 14-inch black steel wheels with full hub caps is wrapped in 215/75 Hankook Optimo whitewall radial tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The refurbished front bucket seats, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in black vinyl. Features include power steering, power brakes, a Swing-Away steering column with an automatic shifter, a center console with a locking storage compartment, an AM/FM radio, and manual windows. According to the selling dealer, the driver's seat bottom needs new stitching, the weatherstripping for both windows should be replaced, and the emergency brake release lever pulls straight out, but still releases the brake when pushed down.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer, a non-operational clock, and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 31,500 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown. The seller reports the emergency brake light does not illuminate.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a rebuilt 390ci engine and backed by a rebuilt Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Underhood features include blue valve covers, a gold air cleaner, a See Clear windshield washer bag, and cast iron exhaust manifolds. The selling dealer states that the engine was rebuilt in 2020 at 24,000 miles and the transmission was rebuilt the same year at 30,000 miles.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Thunderbird was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power four-wheel drums.
