CUMMINS-POWERED 1977 INTERNATIONAL SCOUT II

OVERVIEW

This custom 1977 International Harvester Scout II four-wheel-drive convertible rides on a Dodge Ram pickup chassis and is powered by Cummins 5.9-liter turbodiesel inline-six mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. It underwent customization under prior ownership and features a lifted suspension, Ironman mud-terrain tires, a bikini top, and a modern Fusion head unit. Finished in light green over a black vinyl interior, this Kentucky-based Scout is available now from the selling dealer with a clear Florida title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The light green exterior is capped off with a black bikini top. Refurbishment completed under prior ownership is said to have included repairing and repainting the body and fitting it to a 1990s Dodge Ram chassis. Exterior features include LED headlights, tubular bumpers, side steps, a roll bar, a rear hitch, an exhaust outlet behind the rear passenger-side wheel, and a spray-in bed liner. The selling dealer notes a few areas of cosmetic blemishes, including body filler on the A-pillar, corrosion at the top of the passenger-side fender, a chipped bumper, bedside damage, a misaligned door, and a missing door lock on the passenger side.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Black aluminum 17-inch KMC wheels are wrapped in 35" x 12.50" Ironman All Country mud-terrain tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior features black vinyl bucket seats split by a center console up front along with a matching bench in the rear. The flooring is a black spray-in bed liner material. Amenities include a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a Fusion stereo with bed-mounted subwoofers, and a power outlet.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

The aftermarket instrumentation consists of an inoperative 160-mph speedometer supported by a 10K-rpm tachometer and auxiliary gauges for the voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and transmission temperature. The digital odometer shows 1,158 miles. The true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The upgraded Cummins 5.9-liter turbodiesel inline-six was installed under prior ownership at the time of refurbishment. Power is sent to all four wheels via a Dodge Ram pickup-sourced five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The selling dealer notes that the windshield washer fluid container is cracked.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The ride height has been enhanced with a lifted suspension and the underside has been coated with bed liner material. Driving aids include power steering along with power-assisted disc brakes up front and drums in the rear.
