OVERVIEW
This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO (Central Office Production Order) tribute underwent a nut-and-bolt restoration and is powered by an L72 427ci V8 mated to a Muncie four-speed manual transmission. Details include Goodyear F70 tires, front and rear spoilers, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and auxiliary gauges. Finished in Hugger Orange over a reupholstered black vinyl and houndstooth cloth interior, this first-generation Camaro is now offered by the selling dealer with an owner’s manual, a binder of build documentation, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
According to the selling dealer, this Camaro was originally a base V8 car with front and rear spoilers and was repainted Hugger Orange and given a ceramic treatment as part of a restoration. Appointments include chrome bumpers, dual mirrors, rocker moldings, and a 2.5-inch Flowmaster exhaust system with dual outlets at the rear.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Color-matched 15-inch steel wheels with chrome bowtie-branded center caps are wrapped in Goodyear F70 raised-white-letter wide-tread tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is fitted with reupholstered black vinyl and houndstooth cloth bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, and new black carpeting. Amenities include a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a radio, a COPO-correct air-delete dashboard, tinted glass, armrests, lap belts, woodgrain-look trim, aluminum door sill plates, a heater, and a spare tire housed in the vinyl-lined trunk.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation from Stewart Warner includes a 140-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and a fuel gauge. A pair of auxiliary gauges has been mounted below the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 2,632 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The L72 427ci V8 has a 512 block that was bored .030 over and received ceramic-coated headers, new heads, a new intake, and a 780-cfm Holley carburetor. Torque is sent to the rear wheels via a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear end with 3.73 gearing.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping is provided via power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes build records and an owner’s manual.
