OVERVIEW
This rotisserie-restored, E-code 1957 Ford Thunderbird is one of fewer than 1,500 produced and has been with the current owner for 30 years. It is powered by the optional 270-horsepower 312ci V8 equipped with dual four-barrel carburetors and a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include a Town and Country radio, power brakes, rear wheel skirts, and wire wheels. Finished in Thunderbird Bronze and equipped with a tan folding convertible top over a Copper vinyl interior, this reportedly rust-free and award-winning Thunderbird is available now and comes from the selling dealer with the original window sticker, the original wheels and hub caps, restoration photos, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the frame-off rotisserie restoration completed in the late 1980s by Mitch’s T-Birds of Paramount, California, the exterior was refinished in the original color of Thunderbird Bronze (color code Q). Features include chrome bumpers, a hood scoop with chrome trim, a chrome windshield frame with wind wings, front fender air vents, a driver-side mirror, a tan canvas folding convertible top with a plastic rear window, color-keyed rear fender skirts, and rear bumper-exit exhaust outlets. The selling dealer states that there is faded paint on a rear wing and paint blemishes behind the passenger seat under the top.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of chrome Kelsey-Hayes-style wire wheels is wrapped in whitewall radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior was redone during the restoration and comes furnished with Copper vinyl (trim code XJ) on the bench seat, door panels, and dashboard pad. Features include manual steering, brakes, and windows; a Town and Country radio; and a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 140-mph speedometer, a 5K-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for the fuel level and temperature are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 2,326 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by the optional 270-horsepower E-code 312ci V8 paired with dual carburetors and a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include cast iron exhaust manifolds, finned aluminum valve covers, an aluminum dual four-barrel carburetor intake manifold, dual four-barrel teapot carburetors, and a dual-carburetor air cleaner housing.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Thunderbird was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drums.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The selling dealer states this Thunderbird has won multiple Gold Medallion awards at Thunderbird car shows. They will include the original window sticker, the original wheels and hub caps, and restoration photos as part of the sale.
